re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
I don't know about Shanny. First they send these conflicting BS answers two days in a row, then they bring in JaMarcus Doughboy Russell. Forget what's routine during the bye week, this is no way to treat your star quarterback, whom this organization has invested a lot in terms of hitting the reset button for the next 2-3 years.
It just seems much of this could have been avoided and Shanny just keeps pushing the pedal to the floor making matters more controversial. So you're telling me that Donovan McNabb, who trains in Arizona religiously during the offseason to get in shape and mentally sharp, suddenly has cardio conditioning issues? Nevermind that he had earlier ripped two long runs from scrimmage, one for 36 yards. |

re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
I'm insane at the moment. If McNabb is out of shape What the hell can JRussell do??? Why are we the team that looks at him? How is it Campbell goes to Oakland and we look at Russell? Question is do you think the Raiders are going to have a better record? Thats alarming. At least it took till week 9 for the season to be over this year.

Redskins kick tires on 10 players in all, including five former first-rounders | ProFootballTalk.com
Might be worth another thread....

re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
It could just be a favor to his agent, showing other teams that he is at least getting a look. Neither Jabarcus or Losman are going to be signed to start in front of McNabb or even Grossman. This is more of a look at a 3rd string QB. Beck vs. former starting QBs and 1st round draft picks.

Kudos Shanahan. You start a fire the week before the bye week and then pour a gallon of gasoline on it.
This team is so effed up. |

JaMarcus Russell: He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Redskin?
Apparently, he's 30lbs heavier than Orakpo. lol to the dude who thought there was hope for him. Now where is that Bang! Cartoon where he was sitting on a couch eating chips and then burped...

Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
Jamarcus could lose more weight, but honestly at 6 ft 6 and 286lbs, he is at least 30 pounds less than he weighed with Oakland, and is probably only about 20 pounds out from being seriously fit for a guy his size.
Nobody on here has questioned Russell's skillset. He has the biggest arm in the NFL and probably is one of the toughesst QBs, but it was all mental with him, and if he is in better mental shape, which it sounds like he is, then he could still turn into a great quarterback. If he is signed, I want him to do nothing else but try and get good workout habits in his mind, and for him to do as much as he can to learn the offense. If he is a quick learner, then he may be ready to be the #2 by the very end of the season. He could possibly see playing time even at #3 QB if we are totally out of the playoff picture and playing in meaningless games. If Russell somehow works out here, then I hope that nobody even thinks about starting him until at least 2012, and unfortunatley, Shanahan might not even be here still, so it wont matter. I'm all for signing JR if Shanahan believes in him and thinks that he can reclaim what should have been a great QB...

Tye Hill sounds interesting if he can pass a physical. Bucannan has been playing pretty good in the last 2 games, but depth is always nice

What a disasterous season. Shanahan and Allen, is this part of the plan?

Re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
I don't understand how people are about to burst into flames over a workout.. I'm no Russell fan and I kinda hope we don't do anything more than just conduct a workout with him but geez, wait till we sign the guy to call the season a bust and claim that Shanahan has no faith in McNabb.
You'd think Spurrier was still coaching the team and we were about to play QB carousel for the rest of the season again by the way people are acting.

Can Russell play center or guard? Last I heard, his weight was nearly 290 lbs.

Going to repost this link just to reiterate that this wasn't some knee-jerk reaction to McNabb. The interest in at least seeing him has been there since July.

Kinda funny how we like to blast the media for making mountains out of molehills at times.
And then a thread like this comes along. |

Re: Redskins
No, that's why they are winning franchises on a consistant basis. They wouldn't have brought in Shanny to coach their teams either.
