Re: Giants Game Negatives
This game was a real low point, no doubt. But there's a lot of the season left, and we will see what these guys (including our coaches) are made of.
There are, as we will all recall, some losses that are seared into your memory. For me, the body bag game in Philly was one, the playoff loss to Seattle (when I was yelling "He's hurt -- pull him you f_ing idiot!" in front of my young children), the merciless beat-down from the Patriots a number of years ago, the whole Babe Laufenberg thing, the loss to the Giants in the 1986 playoffs, the torching by the Raiders in the Superbowl -- those all stand out as particularly painful. Last night was probably not quite on par with those, but it wasn't far off either. After seeing such promise by the D and O in prior weeks (albeit with not much to show for it), the complete meltdown from last night was very frustrating. But it's time to man up and get ready for Seattle. No time to for the team to whine about what happened last night -- they cannot change it.

Yeah but you cannot compare a superbowl loss or anything that happened in the 80's to this. Every great team loses during the course of time. They lose bad sometimes even. Like Smoot said this current regime, DS on down - is built on excuses, and to be even remotely ok with it is almost worse (as a fan) than to not be ok with it. They can get ready for Seattle - ready to get their asses kicked real bad. |

I think this lose was almost as bad as Monday night against the Eagles, and no not last year... The year Dukes lost it with LaVar yeaing in the background... Either or, have to be the worst 2 in recent memory... It took a while to recover mentally from that beatdown... I think the true test of Jay and this team will be how they play the champs on the big stage in 10 days...

Re: Giants Game Negatives
I, as many skins fans, simply want a winning team, and not merely for a 7 game stretch at the end of a season. I too was drinking the Kool-Aid when RGIII was drafted because the hype was so high, but I don't think we can make excuses for why he hasn't progressed the way he should have by now. Perhaps the reason why he ran the offense he did in college is because that is all he is capable of doing. He is limited because he just doesn't have the ability to do the tangibles that all the greats do. If you really look close, and forget the hype for a minute or two, it becomes quite clear that RGIII is another great example of an amazing college quarterback without the ability to truly transition into the NFL. Watch his feet in the pocket, and see how he misses his reads. I don't think he wants to have happy feet, it just comes second nature to him and it is his only way of protecting himself as a result of his inability to read defenses and get the ball out fast. His 1st year, in my opinion, was a fluke due to the offensive scheme being tailored around him and having the most underrated running back in the NFL in Alfred Morris tote the ball. Heck, Kirk came in and won a game on the road, true it was against Cleveland, but he did it. And we can't forget that he came in, under pressure, and finished the job against Baltimore. I am not saying Kirk is where he needs to be yet, but let's try to forget, for one second that he was just a 4th round pick and didn't win a Heisman, and take a look at the fundamentals he possesses. If we do that, I don't know how we can't come to the conclusion that Kirk has a much higher ceiling in this league. A running quarterback without the ability to stay healthy, as well as the inability to make the reads and get the ball out on time, lacking to maximize the players ability around him, is not going to make it in this league. I truly hope RGIII, if he gets the opportunity again, proves me wrong, but I just don't see it happening for the long term.

Re: Giants Game Negatives
You know, you might be on to something. We would have lost no matter what, but these POS calls every week are just atrocious. The call on Murphy on the first drive. WTF was that? There was also a PI call on Breeland that also was just a POS. Is this what the league wants? It's every single week we're seeing this crap. These zebras are embarrassing themselves.

Re: Giants Game Negatives
Some of you guys in the DMV may be able to enlighten me on this but I think I heard Cooley through the static say that he felt the coaching staff did not properly prepare the team for a Thursday night game in the practices leading up. Any thoughts or insight into that?
