This is 100% true. As I understand it, the Redskins were the only NFL team to reach out to Fassell. He was talking to the UFL at the same time but obviously the NFL was where he wanted to be.

Williams was never promised anything. If Gibbs had recommended that Williams take over you can be sure Snyder would have hired him, but he didn't.

One source said they had interviewed three coaches for this job and one would be named soon, but was unsure of the third coach. They did talk to former secondary coach Dennis Thurman when they were looking for a defensive coordinator. Also, a source confirmed that former Redskins assistant defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant and Redskins offensive assistant Shane Waldron are joining the Los Angeles Rams' staff. Pleasant, as the Washington Post first reported, will be the secondary coach. Waldron, as the Sporting News reported, will be the tight ends coach.

When we play the Rams next year, I hope we pound the shit out of them, given how McVay has shamelessly raided us (and scooped Wade Phillips). Not a good sign that assistants we really like are ready to bolt for a 30-year-old head coach instead of staying put.

I think your complaints are without merit. It is only right to allow two young coaches to accept promotions elsewhere that they were not going to get here. Wade Phillips didn't want to come here. It is as simple as that, in his case.

Agreed. No reason to attack Sean, he's a young coach with a bright future, glad he was here and helped our offense for years. Seemed like a good guy. Good luck to him and his staff.

I listened to Greg Manusky on Cooley and Kevin (03/16 show http://www.espn980.com/cooley-and-ke...ehan-podcasts/ ).
He said some interesting things, 3 caught my attention :

-When asked about what he's expecting from Breeland, he said "he needs to listen", said that listening is the number one quality a player must have "if you don't have it you're garage" ! Man that DB room must have been a REAL mess last year... Sounds like Breeland was a big part of it.

-He said he was a big believer in bringing pressure. That should make some of us happy.

-When discussing playcalling he said he didn't care that much about the call, most importantly he wants players to be on the same page, it drives him crazy hearing a player say "I didn't get the call".


Overall he sounded like somedy trying to sound nice on radio but who wasn't going to be nice at all in the locker room, wasn't willing to accept any kind of the crap that happened last year.
And I LOVE that!

If you look at Sacks and Turnovers...these were never really he problem. We did a decent job there.

Its getting off the field on 3rd down and run defense. We get blasted when in the nickel against the run. And to me, its alllllll about the call 3rd down which lead to our terrible ratios. We need to make adjustments...communication is key.

Sounds like Perry Fewell really had our secondary in shambles.

I've never seen a defensive secondary so confused in my life. It was as if none of the defensive backs knew where their positions were on the field or what the call was.

Yeah. Would be fun (and extremely sad) to know how many huge plays we allowed just because of blown assignments.

No doubt! And it wasn't always Breeland. Norman had looked lost at times as well, although he was probably expecting safety help.
