Surprised to see some of those stats, he's just 1 behind AROD under duress? Pretty crazy. With Kirk it boils down to pass pro, like with Bradford, both can look amazing when they have the time, like all QBs... Unfortunately our OL didn't play good enough sunday.

Very True...but again you have to point to Gruden playcalling and scheme adjustments. If your getting your ass kicked on the Oline most the game, well dammit, you adjust and give help starting in the 3rd quarter.

you don't keep running 3 wide and empty sets...

Bradford had a clean pocket last night...give Cousins the same pocket, we probably win the game. Oline must step the fuck up

Yes, I agree that adjustments are sorely lacking. I also feel that JG gives lip service to running the ball better but he hasn't shown the commitment to make that happen. Gruden has eliminated the true FB position and he doesn't seem to appreciate key role players, such as a blocking TE.

D Young was a damn fine FB but he was dumped. Just go back and look at his beastly run blocking and compare it to the few times Gruden uses Niles Paul in that role. There is a huge difference.

BTW, why are three of our TE's exactly the same type of player, none of whom can block for shit? Do you mean to tell me that a coach who really wants to run the ball can't get his FO to go out and find him a blocking TE? I mean a beast! If Gruden really wanted to run the ball, he would find that beast now and trade for him. You know, a ROLE PLAYER. Who gives a damn if he can catch the ball or not? Not me.

Gruden also put our most productive RB in the dog house and then cut him over fumbling issues. Neither Fat Rob nor Perrine hit the hole for shit. They slow down at the LOS and dance. At least Brown hits it hard and he's the most likely RB to break off a long run. He should get some chances.

I'm convinced that the root cause of our problems running the ball is the lack of commitment on the part of our HC to make it happen - whatever it takes. Talk is cheap and I'm no longer listening to Gruden's empty words about getting the running game going.

The idea of having the Skins become a running team just isn't relevant in the modern NFL. Its not that running is unimportant but its passing that's most important now and the top salaries reflect that. However the Skins move the chains doesn't matter but they have to get better at making that happen.

The problem is that when you ask to be paid like the top in the profession, you are expected to play like the top in the profession. He again showed that he is not in - or anyway near - the top in the league.

I wonder why more folks here aren't as upset as I am that Gruden called that TO with about one minute to go in the first half. The Skins were winning and the Eagles had a 3rd and long in their own half. Let them run out the clock - not like the Skins offense was just running up and down the field - and get out of there with a lead. Instead, TO, Eagles make first down, score on last play of half. That was a heartbreaker, especially considering the Skins had to kick right back to them.

It was 3rd and 10 with 1:04 mins left on the clock and the Eagles had the ball on their 25 yard line ... Im guessing he had faith that our D could get a stop. Its not like the Eagles were on their 45 yard line.

More upset the Eagles were able to convert and go down the field to set up a FG attempt. More upset we are continuing the trend of not getting stops on 3rd and longs and letting TEs rack up numbers on us.

Do you think Stafford is the best QB right now? It's all about timing when you hit the market, not if you're the best or not. One game doesn't decide your value.

One game doesn't decide your value, unfortunately for Kirk, he has played poorly in two very high profile games: the Giants game that could have taken the team to the playoffs and the season opener after he turned down a pretty fair offer by the team.

Kirk has a season to show that he deserves the highest contract at the end of the season based on market value. If he continues to be a slow starting QB, whose ceiling is 8-8/9-7, he's not going to get it.

People will continue to hold both Kirk and the team to the lack of a long-term contract. If Kirk had been lights out on Sunday, people here would be screaming at the team for screwing things up.

I kind of doubt the reaction in favor of him getting a deal would be nearly as strong. Sort of how when we win the forum can be rather quiet, opposed to the shit hitting the fan after any loss.

For me, it isn't one game. It is now a consistent pattern over his entire time here. The team is a horrific 2-11 with him as QB vs winning teams. That's not a game, it is a trend.

Sure, he can light it up vs lesser teams, but when he NEEDS to win and is under pressure, he folds up and makes bone-headed plays. Last season, first Dallas game, he threw almost the EXACT same interception as vs Philly (he also threw that INT vs Ravens and Giants).

My concern with paying him is that it affects the Cap and the players we can/can't hold.

The offense in general has been a slow starter. I will say I expected a lot more penalties. JReed should never ever be asked to block. His holding penalties are ...

Re: Ugly week 1 again... Post game thread.

A little off topic, but it is so stupid to have 12 to 16 different running schemes. With that many different blocking schemes, asst least one person on every play is missing an assignment.

Cut it in half, simplify, and execute. We have the talent to run the ball. I don't know how much is Jay, how much is Callahan but this is so frustratingly stupid.

Re: Ugly week 1 again... Post game thread.

A win in September counts as much as a win in December.

Defense run game was much better but allowing 8/14 3rd down conversions is a killer. TOP favored Eagles by a good margin.

Cousins INT was ugly. Right read, right decision .... horrible mechanics and throw. That was a gimme TD.

Controversial fumble call to basically end the game. I think Kirk may have had an empty hand going forward, ball was loose/coming out before pressure or hand going forward. idk ...

Re: Ugly week 1 again... Post game thread.

In the NFL any win is a huge win, you only play 16 games.
