I just wanted to throw this out there: assuming Kirk would have signed the contract he got in Minnesota here had the Skins made the exact same offer (which I don't think is true, but for the sake of argument), the Skins saved, on their cap space: 6,6M in 2018, 8,6M in 2019 and 9,6M in 2020 ! (from overthecap and spotrac numbers)

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.
If you want to say that Smith's numbers might not match his best season on record, and thus he has less success, ok. I don't think that's right but sure he might throw an extra pick or two (or 5 ?) and throw for 20yards per game.
The first pick in the draft line though is pretty whacko. (Although I am sure some people on here will say we will only win 4 games this year). |

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.
Even with being completely decimated by injuries we were 7-9, so thinking we’ll fall off the cliff and get the #1 pick is odd thinking on his part. Wish he elaborated on that.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.
No thanks. There would be nothing to be learned from further comment from him. He should have been wearing a dunce cap when he said it.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.
we need to keep this thread archived after that David Car shit -- or at least someone take a screenshot of the article before it disappears after 4 weeks or so -- and then spam the shit out of his twitter with it and completely call his ass out. Fuckin moron.,

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.
Kirk was the polar opposite of RG3 in so many facets of playing QB.
IMO Kirk was anti drama as well. For how messy the situation got with the endless franchise tags and contract confusion Kirk said NOTHING. Never went into Skins bashing mode. Took it on the chin and moved on.... Im with whoever puts on the uniform on sundays but i dont have a crystal ball. Ill see it when i see it.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.
Our previous QB had some of the same issues and had a ton of meaningless yards (in my book they are meaningless if they didn't result in Ws). On top of that, he didn't want to play here in the past two years, never seemed to be able to start the season right, and in a very deceptive way, always made things about him.
I don't think we are expecting Aaron Rodgers, but there will be aspects of the QB position that Alex Smith will almost automatically improve compared to our previous QB.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.
First to say Alex was propped up by the run...certainly it was a major help, but the defense?
KC was one of the worst pass defenses in the league and wasn’t much better against the run. Alex play bailed out your defense...not the other way around. That’s a big oversight. Alex smith’s play this upcoming season won’t be the reason Skins struggle...just like cousins wasn’t the reason the team struggled this past year. We didn’t take a big step back at the qb position with Alex smith. Good luck this season... |

2017: 15th 2016: 7th 2015: 3rd 2014: 2nd 2013: 5th My Chiefs had had a top defense in terms of points allowed for 4 of the last 5 years. You what that yielded for us? 1 playoff win and 4 playoff losses...and the one win was when Brian Hoyer turned the ball over five times. Now lets compare that to the Redskins the last five years in terms of points allowed: 2017: 27th 2016: 19th 2015: 17th 2014: 29th 2013: 30th Like I said, Alex Smith is a fine QB when he is playing on a team that could mask his weaknesses. If you guys get Alex of 2017, your team wont miss a beat from Cousins to Smith. If you guys get pre2017 Alex, it could be a long 5 years with him. |
