If we draft Edmunds where would he play?

ILB in base. In nickel, hybrid safety / LB. Would match him up against Zach Ertz man on man without hesitation.

Exactly my point. And I'd remove RG3 as a pro bowl "hit". He obviously was a bust overall, despite making that pro bowl in the one season.

Vita effing Vea. We simply cannot afford to get gashed up the middle anymore. It will make the entire front seven better. Payne would be my second choice. Second round trade down and get our third back.

You’re forgetting that we had a very good run defense last year until Ionitas and Allen got hurt. They’re both back and healthy and we can hopefully rotate Phil Taylor in there. Using the 13th pick on a player who can’t rush the passer and would only play about 50% of snaps would be very very stupid of Bruce Allen.

We need to use the pick on a playermaker who will play close to 100 percent of snaps. At least one of Derwin James, Tremaine Edmunds, Roquan Smith, or Minkah Fitzpatrick will be there at 13. I’ll be extremely disappointed if we don’t take one of them.

I do not expect Barkley or anyone of that caliber to be available at 13 and would argue he is one of the top 15 guys available no doubt. How is that need based? Sounds like a perfect combination of need and bpa to me. Dude is an athletic freak for his size. He is going to be the pick if he is available so y’all better come around and hop on the V-train now.

Allen got hurt in his fifth game. Of those 5 games the Chiefs gashed us for almost 200 yards and Oakland had 120. So to say we had a very good run defense before he got hurt is just not true at all.
Furthermore when you got a guy like Vea eating up the middle of an offensive line is going to allow for the rest of the front 7 to better get to the passer. Since when is a NT’s number one job to rush the passer and there is no way he would play 50% of downs.

No offense to Edmunds, but if he and Smith are both there when we pick I'd prefer Smith. He just reminds me of Derrick Brooks. He can cover a TE cause he is probably faster than all of them. And when he arrives to hit you're going down. Maybe I'm biased, didn't really see Edmunds or any Va Tech games.

Smith runs himself out of the play too often. He doesn't take on blocks head on, he tries to evade. He'll need to break that habit in the pros because there will be more athletic guys that can reach him.

I'd rather have Edmunds. But Smith is a good get too, this is a pretty nitpicky complaint because it can probably be coached.

Edmunds is long and athletic but Smith is more polished at this time, again its a crapshoot tho

Edmunds is 6-5 255 and runs a 4.54 40 and he’s only 19 years old... Cooley said athletically he’s the closest thing to LaVar he’s seen
