Idk but Pickett threw three picketts and lost to the Jets. That being said, they are prepping him for the future which is probably what we should be doing after one more loss, in other words week 6.
We are absolutely, 100 percent, not making the playoffs. We need an entire secondary, lb corp, and o line. Literally every piece in every unit needs an upgrade. So we might as we will see what Howell has. If he doesn’t have it, we are fucked for at least three more years - probably more with bozo Ron in charge of personnel. I can’t get over the fact that he made Grudens squad worse. It really isn’t even possible. Yet he has done it.

From what I have heard Howell is just not ready. I think you give CW Titans, their D isn't nearly as good as Philly and Dallas. If there is improvement there then give him Chicago they have a very good D but I think a game plan like Dallas might get a W. If no improvement you might seriously have to consider Howell. At the very least we should kick the tires on him before end of the season that way we can tell whether or not we go back into the draft looking for a QB.

some more positives

2 .. number of sacks given up. Yes we had to change our game plan to one that couldnt put points on the board but if our goal was to limit sacks ... mission accomplished Scott and Carson. We showed em.

30.9% 4th Best 3rd down D in the league ... not too bad Jack. Smart move allowing teams to average 6 yards per play.

I was wondering how much of that was because of Dallas defense plan. They seemed much more content to take away the pass and not be as aggressive in rush as Philly.

The problem is the Eagles and Lions were getting immediate pressure off 4 man rushes. Their guy would just instantly beat our guy one on one and make a B line for the QB.

Yesterday, cowboys seemed to just rush 3 or 4 on predictable passing plays and for the most part created pressure.

First sack early, Trai just let him go right up the middle untouched.
Second sack, 3 man rush and Cosmi pushes his guy up field but Carson backpedals past where the pocket should be.

If teams can create pressure only bringing 4 ... we are cooked. You cant really quick throw against that as guys are dropping back into zones/bracketing outside/so many moving parts on D .. and you dont have time for a receiver to shake coverage and do the scramble/broken play drill.

--------

You cant do anything about it as a coach. Yes you can chip or double w a TE on the outside .. but you need your O lineman to be able to go hat on hat and hold for at least a few seconds.

Guys going untouched up the middle ... maybe keep your RB but still, coaches cant do much

Yeah the four man rush on known pass plays is a huge issue. I think we have to really stick to run and have the defense really question whether it is a run or passing down and for f sake stop doing play actions pass once the D has queued into that. You aren't fooling anyone

Running into a stacked D line on those 2nd and longs was frustrating but I somewhat get the conservative approach ... radio heads are asking if Carson is allowed to yell "can" and check out of run and go to pass against a stacked box. No one knew the answer.

Then discussion was whether its center or QB who would call slide protections after Qb ids mike ... and how we had Nick Martin in there ....

--------------

pass pro is a big problem with what we are trying to do.

4 games in .. we had to drastically change our offensive approach

not good

Re QB change ...

I missed Jon Allens weekly tuesday radio interview w the junkies today but last week, I forgot his exact words .. but the locker room and team know/think it is way early in the season and they expect to win, just focusing on next game, take it game by game.

4 games in .. way to early to do something as major as QB benching.

Im sure all 53 expect to win on Sunday vs the Titans and get to 2-3.

Tennessee is a huge game, if we're going to have anything close to a decent season. Chicago is next so you never know. Great to hear Allen's comments honestly.

Good to see some people still have faith. It's not an easy thing in today's world.

The Titans are no walk in the park lol, they have the best RB in football and a very good DL, the way we this team is playing right now I wouldn't pick them against anyone

I second this emotion. Im sick of this team gutting me every Sunday. It isn’t about faith it’s about reality. And the reality is i may root for a perennial loser but i aint no sucker. Haha. Not anymore. They stink.
They may or may not beat Tennessee. Shit happens. But this teams ceiling is 6 wins. You can book that shit.
That is one less than last year, and we were supposed to have cap space, and a full compliment of draft picks and continuity with the staff and blah blah blah. When this world has written its final chapter One of the greatest mysteries will be how Ron Rivera made Jay Grudens football team worse. For fucks sake Zorn once won 8 games. And that was when Snyder and Cerrato were running the damn team and its personnel decisions. Rivera is a really terrible HC, but he is thee worst GM we might ever see
