Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
If there was a definition of a JAG QB then Kyle Allen is that. He is the ultimate back up QB and a very good one. But I doubt he's a 16 game starter.
It was very clear that after watching Heinike he obviously was better than anyone we saw under center last year. But can he stay healthy? Can he continue that level and maybe get better? Can he play at a high level w/ expectations? Just a lot of questions surrounding him. He needs to stay in the weight room this entire off season. But for him to play as well as he did against the SB champs was just very impressive. How many drops did he have that game? He was accurate, threw w/ anticipation, he was mobile, we just haven't seen that level of play since Kirk. We finally saw that Cam Sims is pretty good once he got a QB in there that can get him the ball. For me it was Stafford or bust. Since we could not land him then it's 100% draft and bring back Allen. You can't have 3 guys competing so to me it's Heinike and make a decision on the rookie or Allen. |

I imagine Ill feel a little let down in we dont upgrade the QB but once we win a game or two, play good complimentary offense with our top 10 D .. ill get over it. makes next off season as a desperate one though (unless we draft Lance or Jones) |

These games are just from 2015: The "you like that game" for starters, he was 33/40 for 317 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT Against the Saints he was 20/25 for 324 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT And in back to back games he went 22/28 for 319 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT against the Bills followed by 31/46 for 365, 4 TD, 0 INT against Philly. If you look at his game logs there are definitely more I could point out |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Not sure I can agree. From what I heard the playbook was simplified so much for Heinicke in the playoff game that it wouldn't be sustainable for 16 games. That performance was a one game stop gap. We will get a chance to see what he can do with a full playbook this year, see if he actually has NFL skills.

Chris Cooley on his film breakdown after the game. It is one man's opinion but he has forgotten more about football than my eyes know.

Unless they trade up we will be stuck with a JAG in 2021, even if they sign Mariota or Cam or whoever

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Yep, at this point we have to draft a QB in round 1 now. Letting Smith go and not getting a top FA QB (none are left) guarantees that we have to draft one this year.
Mac Jones, Kyle Allen and Heinicke it is. I also think we're paying Heinicke too much to be a #3 QB, but Rivera seems like he has some loyalty to Allen. Hopefully we get a chance to draft a QB like Jones, he could be gone before 19. Lance will be gone. If we want him, we're trading up.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
We've seen way too many one game wonders come and go for me to get even remotely excited for Heinicke. Chances are he's a good backup at best. If he's the real deal then halle-fucking-lujah let's go
