Cowboys lose Payton to the Saints

Sources: Saints hire Cowboys' Payton as head coach

Not sure how valuable he was to them anyway, but hey, if it weakens them a bit it's a good thing for us!

I think it will hurt some to be honest with you. He's been sought after for the past few seasons.

Where was their offense ranked at season's end anyway?

anytime you lose your coaches it will hurt.
especially if he brings other coaches with him to the saints from the boyz.

The giants are pretty stable unless Lewis gets a Head coaching job.

Neither did the giant fans when he was with them, sounds like addition by subtraction if you ask me.

Re: Cowboys lose Payton to the Saints

FYI, Dallas ended the regular season ranked 13th in total offense.

It does not matter whom the Cowboys name thier offensive coordinator really, bottom line is Parcells will be making the calls anyway. Even though this was the first time since his days in New England that Parcells turned play-calling duties over to someone else, the fact of the matter is that Parcells still had to "O.K." each play called. If he did not like it he would not let Payton send it in. So who was REALLY calling the plays?

Parcells will hire someone he trusts, and is familiar with, in other words someone that will do what he says without question. Two names have been mentioned. Todd Haley, the current WR coach. Haley was the asst coach that Parcells SHOVED on the sideline during a game this season. Also Chris Palmer is another possible candidate.

Palmer was the Texans offensinve coordinator for the past 5 years and was fired after only 2 games this season. But Palmer and Parcells have a history, Palmer is someone that Parcells is familiar with and trusts, having spent 4 years together in New England. He was the WR coach for 3 years and was the QB coach in his final year there with Parcells, the year that New England advanced to the Super Bowl.

Whoever it is will not have that much of an effect on the team, as we all know that even though Payton was a coordinator in name, Parcells was making the decisions.

Parcells will get someone whose string he can pull anytime he wants.
