Saunders and WIlliams

pretty interesting article. however, "Joe Gibbs is now the Redskins' CEO, and the two coordinators beneath him are like the Redskins' two head coaches." I do not agree with that statement. Seems like he is trying to take all the credit away from gibbs for when we win the super bowl next year. Gibbs is still in charge of that offense until he retires, i dont care what schefter says. But yeah Saunders should definatly help

that guy is an ass. the one thing gibbs has always said is that you win by surrounding yourself with quality people so thank you oakland for letting mr saunders come to washington and you guys have fun with janikowski, moss, sapp and collins. HA HA.

Looks a little like setting the stage for gibbs to move on. Sure hope not

Funny. So does Vermeil deserve no credit for making Kansas City a contender again? Guess all that credit goes to Al Saunders. Vermeil was just a CEO who was loved by his players.

Yeah, Gibbs gets no credit. I was watching NFL TA the week before we played seattle and they kept saying not to forget that Holmgren had already won one superbowl, and they jumped all over his jock for about 30 mins.

Seems like because gibbs isnt an ego-maniac and is so softspoken, (and from washington i guess) that he won't be recieving too much positive press.

Maybe if gibbs fired his entire staff, and cut all of the players and went out and threw the ball to himself and won a superbowl alone he'd get a little respect from the media.

Re: Saunders and WIlliams

Gibbs is like the Redskins CEO and general manager. Face it, there are a lot of good coached out there. What Gibbs has always done well is figure out how to get the right people together to create a winning team and then work on all the little details.

Gibbs capacity may change as early as this year, but he has restated he is commited to three more. His stamp on this team will be here for many more. He has not only assembled the right players, but the right coaches. He has got Snyder to stop going after high priiced free agents, and pay for the best coaches instead. He has created continuity and hope that we have not seen in years.

He does not have to be the offensive coordinator on this team to be able to take full credit for directing them back to glory.

Sportswriters don't understand what goes into building a team. I think coming up with brilliant schemes is only a small part of coaching. The ability to inspire, motivate, teach, and unite a group of egos is the hardest thing to do in coaching. He deserves all the credit in the world; after Lombardi, he's the best ever.

Re: Saunders and WIlliams

I don't see what he wrote that was so bad. He said football is as much about CEOs and Xs and Os, and that Gibbs is the Redskins' CEO. CEO essentially being like the head coach of the "head coaches" (Al and Gregg). I really didn't have a problem with this column personally.
