Jaguars | L. Washington might fit with team
Sat, 18 Mar 2006 09:45:01 -0800

Bob Thomas, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Florida State RB Leon Washington might fit into the Jacksonville Jaguars' plans. Washington is scheduled for an individual workout with team and looks forward to playing in his hometown. Washington said, "How great would it be to come home and play five minutes from where I grew up? I can see the stadium from out my back door. I played well in college [at Alltel Stadium]. I would love to come back and be able to give back to the community."

Jaguars | Wimbley might fit with team
Sat, 18 Mar 2006 09:44:26 -0800

Bob Thomas, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Florida State DL Kamerion Wimbley might fit into the Jacksonville Jaguars' plans. Wimbley is projected by many NFL teams to switch to outside linebacker. He might be available when the Jaguars pick with the No. 28 overall selection in the 2006 NFL Draft. Wimbley could fill in for free agent LB Akin Ayodele, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Browns | Watching a trio from Florida State
Sat, 18 Mar 2006 07:37:04 -0800

Steve Doerschuk, of the Canton Repository, reports the Cleveland Browns had a contingent at Florida State's Pro Day keeping an eye on DT Brodrick Bunkley, DE Kamerion Wimbley and LB Ernie Sims Jr. All three are expected to be first-round picks, but two questions remain: Are any worthy of being selected at No. 12 and if the Browns trade down, how low can they go and still have one of the three available to them?

figured a single thread would be better than spamming the board.
if you're interested in who other teams are looking at, hopefully there will be some info here.

most articles don't bother with draftees below the 2nd round though

Good idea. The multiple threads were getting to be a little much.

Steelers | Team to take a look at J. Lewis
Sat, 18 Mar 2006 23:17:33 -0800

John O'Connor, of the Times-Dispatch, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have invited NCAA basketball C Jai Lewis, of George Mason, to visit with them after the NCAA basketball tournament is over. There may also be other NFL teams that want to take a first-hand look at the 6-7 275-pounder. Lewis last played football as a tight end and defensive end at Aberdeen (Md.) High School. But his size and athleticism intrigues NFL scouts, who see some TE Antonio Gates (Chargers) in Lewis. A Steelers scout watched Lewis play in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament earlier this month at the Richmond Coliseum and left impressed by Lewis' dimensions, coordination and mobility. "I'd love to play football, and the NFL is always trying to find athletes," said Lewis.

Wonder if they're trying him at TE or DE? since he's local, he might be a good guy to look at.

Jaguars | Team likes T. Howard

6'7" 275 with move is going to attract attention... How fast could be possibly be with all that weight though? probably has great change of direction to make up for it.

Titans | Team to meet with Cutler March 20
Sun, 19 Mar 2006 22:32:24 -0800

The Nashville City Paper reports the Tennessee Titans will meet with Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler Monday, March 20. He will spend the entire day with the Titans coaches and staff in a get-to-know interview where the sides can get together and talk football and further evaluate Cutler. The main question regarding the Titans and Cutler is whether or not they value him the same way many suspect they do USC QB Matt Leinart or Texas QB Vince Young in that No. 3 draft spot. General manager Floyd Reese said: "I think it depends on which club you talk to. There are 32 clubs, and I think they all have different ideas. But I can't imagine too many quarterbacks performing better than he did (Friday at his Pro Day)."

Young, Vick fail under pressure

The official scores from the Wonderlic Tests taken at the combine were released. As usual, there were some interesting results. Texas QB Vince Young did indeed take the test twice. The league has been tight-lipped regarding his first score, but the higher score of his two attempts was a 15. Young's score was bad, but not the worst of this year's quarterback class. That honor goes to Virginia Tech's Marcus Vick, who scored an 11 on the test. A perfect score is 50, and the highest score any player posted in this year's class was a 41 (Oklahoma DT Dusty Dvoracek). The lowest score of this year's class was an eight (Syracuse DE Kader Drame, Alabama ILB Freddie Roach, Louisville DT Montavious Stanley, N.C. State TE T.J. Williams and Oklahoma DC Chijioke Onyenegecha), and the average score of all the quarterbacks was a 24.6.

The Wonderlic Personnel Test (WPT) is a short-form intelligence test that measures players' ability to think on their feet, follow directions and make effective decisions under pressure. While Young and Vick exposed their weaknesses in those areas, other quarterbacks shined. Grambling's Bruce Eugene (41), Montana State's Travis Lulay (37), USC's Matt Leinart (35) and Oregon's Kellen Clemens (35) all posted impressive scores.
