Week 5 RB selection
Hey guys, I've got LT, Portis and Kevin Jones on my roster. The toss-up is between Jones and Portis. Any suggestions?

Re: Week 5 RB selection
Portis has been running really well so think it'd be pretty hard to bench him. He should at least be able to get close to 100yrds. I just checked my leagues stats and he is the second leading scorer among the 1st round draft picks (behind rudi johnson).
The lions will be going up against Minni, and if they can get into the clock management groove like they did against us Jones might not get the ball very much.

Portis. Jones is hit or miss and Minny can be good against the run.

Re: Week 5 RB selection
That's an EASY one. Kevin Jones should NEVER EVER be started in place of Portis. Even a Portis with a bum shoulder will score you a TD (Week 1). Jones is too inconsistant for me to even have on my team...plus, he's a Detroit Lion.
Awesome job getting LT AND Portis. Jones should only play on Portis' bye week for you, since LT had his bye already. |

Re: Week 5 RB selection
Jones and Portis have the same BYE week, unfortunately.

Re: Week 5 RB selection
Actually, it's a 12 man league and everyone has been playing for a while. We drafted after the last pre-season game and Portis was still dinged up. Everyone was reluctant to take him in the first round and then on the 2nd round there was a run on WR's. For my second pick (23rd overall), I just grinned as I said "Thanks for giving me the championship, guys!" I even got the receivers that I wanted (Driver, Roy Williams and Coles).

Re: Week 5 RB selection
wow, you drafted with ijits.
NEVER start jones over portis, EVER. he'll cost you games an come up short time and time again :/ LT and portis are locks. jones is for bye weeks or your W/R flex (if you have one) and nothing else. I mean, even with bad matchups, CP and LT are still good for 100 and a TD. |

Re: Week 5 RB selection
Trade Jones away for another RB then. Even consider a "lower-tier" RB and another WR. You could also upgrade your D or TE with him and come out in good shape since Jones will be on the bench for you every week with LY and CP starting. Jones is overrated and people keep giving him chances. He's not helping your team at all on your bench, he's good trade value for you.
You'll need a RB for your Portis bye. Since you have LT, anyone who can score ANY points for you will do fine. |

Re: Week 5 RB selection
Why is there even a doubt in your head?
You never take LT or CP out of your lineup. |

And by the way, I'm obviously playing Portis and LT the vast majority of the time. I did draft Portis ahead of Jones, after all, indicating I feel he is a better fantasy value. But some matchups can be interesting. I could have played Jones last week and got more points out of him.
