Re: Must Read!
I love how Cowboy fans are REALLY grasping at reasons for the loss. TO could have caught the ball. Cooley could have caught the ball. The numerous holding penalties could have been called. The tripping against Randle El could have been called. The Redskins could have punched it in when they had a zillion chances at it. The facemask penalty WAS a fifteen yarder because by rule when the head snaps around, it's for fifteen.
It was your typical game, and the better team won in the end.

Re: Must Read!
Don Banks from SI says," Could someone please explain to me why the face-mask penalty called on Dallas guard Kyle Kosier on Sean Taylor's return of a blocked field goal was a 15-yarder rather than the less-flagrant five-yard variety? Kosier only had Taylor's face mask for a split second, and quickly let go before it reached the usual standard for a 15-yard penalty. Those extra 10 yards made all the difference on Nick Novak's subsequent game-winning 47-yard field goal for the Redskins.
I understand the logic that led Dallas to go for that two-point conversion up 6-5 a couple minutes into the second quarter at Washington, but why does it always seem like when you go for the deuce too soon -- and fail -- it invariably comes back to bite you in the butt? Redskins haters here come the run of the century. |

Re: Must Read!
Don Banks again.
• Did you see Joe Gibbs on Novak's game-winning field goal try, staring straight down at the ground on the sideline, unable to watch the drama and content to let the crowd noise tell him if he had won the game or faced an overtime period? Did that look like a guy who's really enjoying himself in his renaissance tenure in D.C.? For the record, Gibbs is now 19-21 in his first 40 regular-season games of this second stint as Redskins head coach. • On a similar topic, is that over-staffed, over-qualified collage of assistant coaches in Washington really working? Sometimes less is more. That win hurt Don Banks he is furious he is a cowboy fan. |
