http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/7429261

Wow this is really surprising. He was horrible last year, but apparently Denny Green likes him again. I thought hed been runnin on empty ever since we rocked him the last game of the year the year before last. What u guys think?

what happened to shipp? he looked like a pretty good back when healthy and smith is way way past his prime and is gonna be in trouble again behind that o-line.

Emmitt was one of the Cowboys I actually liked... but he is way past his prime now. This sorta supports my belief that Denny Green is overrated as a coach.

Shipp will beat him out by the end of camp. Either that or Emmitt will go down with an injury at some point. He's nothing more than a situational/spot starter anymore.

Who cares which one of them starts as at running back, they dont have to be great with all those receivers. Granted you need the run to open up the passing game, but I think Emmit could do that. I bet Emmit and Shipping both get around 7-800 yards next year sharring the load.

Shipp will be starting by week 3. Shipp is a great young back to go with that budding young defense. Emmitt can teach Shipp a lot, but let him do it Monday - Saturday!

Shipp had a great season last year. Emmitt was hurt after their game against the boys!!! Shipp will end up with more of the running duties than Emmitt but Emmitt sells tickets. More than half the people wearing jerseys at Cardinal games have on Emmitt Jerseys. There are alot of Cowboy fans in Az too. And they still go to see Emmitt play.

I agree Smith is past his prime. But think about it a minute before you dump on Green over this one. For one thing, Shipp never saw the end zone last year. It is very possible this is one of Green's typical "motivational" moves. He had some very good seasons with the Vikings, and is known to employ all types of strategies to light a fire under his players. It's a long way to the start of the season, so let's wait and see how it shakes out. It's very possible this is intended as a temporary move.

i still think barry was a better back... imagine if he had the line that Emmitt had blocking for him in Dallas. it was sad to see Smith trudge past the record with 2 yards a carry...

smith came out of college a year after sanders, but yet when sanders retired, he was only a year away from the record. whereas smith, w/his awesome line, didn't break payton's record until four years after sanders quit. sanders by far was more talented. it was amazing watching him have both negative yardage runs andhuge td runs be equally entertaining.

the thing about emmit was that he had a great attitude, and was tough. He was always said to be too small, although Barry was pretty small himself, and Emmit had the drive. I believe that Barry was by far better than Emmit though.
