Does he deserve a SB ring?

I saw this little tidbit today and I was curious to see if you guys think this player deserves a Super Bowl ring

Quote:
Bears wide receiver Jamin Elliott claims the Patriots owe him a Super Bowl ring. Elliott spent eight days on New England's active roster last season. He was activated Nov. 15 and was waived Nov. 22. He signed with Chicago in February. "I was there. I earned a ring. I was part of that team," Elliott said. Elliott said he sent a letter to the Patriots and to the NFL Players Association, and said he plans to file a grievance. But the awarding of Super Bowls rings is at the team's discretion.

what a chump. i hope the patriots counter sue this schmuck cuz that's pretty pathetic. does that mean players cut from the winning team during training camp deserve a ring 2? did he catch anything or make any tackles on special teams? i bet he didn't even get on the field.

The Pats didn't think he added enough to the team to keep him for more than a week. He knows that he saw his last opportunity to hang on as a fifth receiver on a Superbowl contending team. 99 angels in heaven are playing "My Heart Bleeds For You" on tiny little harps.

if he was on the roster, active or not, then he deserves a ring, otherwise no

I'm with BigC. If you're on the roster during the Super Bowl win, you deserve a ring. If you're not on the roster, no ring!

does anyone remember if the Redskins replacement players back in '87 got rings? Even though they weren't on the roster for the Super Bowl itself their 3 wins were key and they certainly should be commended for what they did for the team

But in this guy's case it seems a bit absurd to ask for a ring

Being on the team for a week in nov does not mean you deserve a ring.

what makes him think hes acutally going to get a ring. I wonder if the Postons are his agents and told him his a soldier and deserves a ring.

Thats a joke. I actually feel bad for that guy, he obviously needs to improve himself if he wants to make it in the NFL, and hes worried about being given ( because he sure didnt earn it ) a Super Bowl ring from a team he spent six days on. Pathetic.
