Doc Walker - Redskin Predictions

Last night during the John Thompson show on Sports Talk 980, Doc Walker made some pretty bold predictions about next year. I'd say 80% of the stuff he says about the Skins is negative, but he was pretty adament last night about how these two following predictions are going to come true next year. A) Byron Leftwich is going to play for the Skins. B) Al Saunders will no longer be with the team. I really hope that neither one of these predictions is true, and they do sound a little far fetched to me. I don't see how bringing in Leftwich is a good idea, that would just cause another QB controversey, and I hope the Redskins can atleast give Saunders another try because God knows what happens when he keep changing personel. What does everyone else think? What does everyone think of Doc Walker in general?

Re: Doc Walker

I sure hope both are wrong - we just don't need any more big transitions.
I can see Saunders leaving, though I'm hesitant to blame him for anything. Gibbs knew what he was getting w/him when they brought him on.
Only way I see AS leaving is if he's unhappy or if Gibbs steps on his toes & says he's gonna have to change his playcalling. As I recall, AS came in w/some assurance that he'd be in charge of the O.

I think Doc is trying to make some bold predictions, but it doesn't seem like he has any more inside info than J. Laconfora at the washpost, i.e. I wouldn't put much faith in his predictions based on past experience.

I could see that happening, and of course most stupid Skins fans would be happy if he leaves. But then it is another change that will screw things up even more. I am praying he doesn't get frustrated with Gibbs, the fans, the organization, the media, etc. I know I would though...

Re: Doc Walker

Doc Walker is prone to making over-reaching comments based on nothing more than a whim. For example, just last week he boldly predicted that we would win out and be in the playoffs. So, I wouldn't put a lot of value in his predictions.

Re: Doc Walker

I would actually buy both of them only because once around 1:00 am I was firing one up before I went to sleep and I saw on Channel 8 they had someone live at Redskins Park talking about the Redskins signing Joe Gibbs to coach the team. Leftwich as a BACKUP sure I'll agree. Controversy my ass, he needs to be stated as the BACKUP and if not, draft someone and bring them up. We'll still have Marky Mark sittin at #2 so i'm cool. Now if Saunders leaves and Gibbs takes over the play calling again I'd be fine with that but don;t bring in another guy so they have to learn all over again. Now, going back to Gibbs I'd take it but I honestly don;t see any of those things happeneing. So i guess I'm selling. What if I wait to see if there's it'll be on sale ? Maybe some cupons in the Sunday paper ?

Re: Doc Walker

Leftwhich's development is not all that far ahead of Campbell in my eyes. If they are going to trump Campbells development by bringing in another starter it had better be someone better than Leftwich.

Re: Doc Walker

Why does everyone keep calling for wholesale changes? it doesnt work! If we would have stuck with Shottenheimer a few years back, just think how good we could be right now, the chargers are the class of the NFL. Saunders system takes a while to pick up, to give up on it now is insane, its a proven system. The skins need to tweak the personnel to adjust to his system, and we will be fine. I really saw no reason to bring Saunders in, in the first place, but now that we have done it we must stick with it, players need stability and our team and coaching staff has been in flux for 7 years now.

Re: Doc Walker

Just what we need, a QB with even less mobility than Brunell. As for Saunders, I hope he returns and continues to preach his proven methods. I would be disappointed if Campbell finishes the season decently and isn't given first crack as the #1 QB. We gave up far too much to not figure out what we have there.

Re: Doc Walker

Both predictions have a zero percent possibility of happening. Al Saunder's offense takes about 3 years to pick up, and we traded two first rounders plus alot more for Campbell, and the third year is when the QB is supposed to be ready.

Actually we "only" traded our 2005 3rd and 2006 1st and 4th for Campbell. That's still a steep price that should dictate playing him to see what he can do.

Re: Doc Walker

is leftwich even any good. i mean he's okay but i definitely don't want to see him here. he'll probably be asking for a lot too.

the question is, are we going to pay the man like we normally do?
