With the # 6 selection in the draft, The Washington Redskins select, Gaines Adams!!!
This stud would be replacing Daniels across from Carter.
2005 as a Junior he made 56 overall tackles, 15 for a loss, 9.5 sacks, 29 QB pressures and 3 forced fumbles. 2006 as a Senior he made 62 overall tackles, 17.5 for a loss, 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. He's 6'5 261lbs and runs a 4.7 flat. Fastest time for any Defensive lineman in this upcoming class. Was redshirted at Clemson in 2002. This guy is ready to start tomorrow!! |

I also like Adams, but I think they're gonna trade down, someone will want Quinn at our spot.

This is like the # 6th thread about young buck, gaines. He is VERY talented. I'm just not so sure we won't end up giving that #6 up for some more draft picks.
They are aweful quite at REDSKIN park???? huuuummmm....

I'd still rather get a DT who can clog up the middle and can open up the pass rush for Carter. I know Adams was a great pass rusher in college but I can't get all that excited about him.

Adams is too small. Liability in the run game.

Re: With the # 6 selection in the draft, The Washington Redskins select, Gaines Adams
I'm pretty tired of beating this horse. BUT, I think we will make every effort to trade this pick down for a late first rounder and a couple more picks. That being said, I think Gaines Adams at this point would be better suited as an OLB in a 3-4 defense. At 255 lbs., he wouldn't be an effecitve run stopper at all, and we already have a DE under 270 lbs in Carter. Personally I'd rather have Alan Branch than Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson, but I'd rather trade down for more picks. We could still end up with Adam Carriker, Anthony Spencer, or Jarvis Moss late in Rd 1....

Re: With the # 6 selection in the draft, The Washington Redskins select, Gaines Adams
i don't konw about that kid just, cuz where our front four is a problem for any team when healthy. So call me crazy but i love that safety from LSU, its not hard to find a good d-end, but safety don't come a dime a doszen these days. We can always find a vet d-end. Anyways our safety S.Taylor needs a tendem so he can do his thing and not always have to feel like his back there alone and tryin bite on pump fake just to make plays. I really think he feel like if he don't make a play back there no one else is. What ya think

Why not gain additional picks and help out with the cap at the same time? Yes the #6 pick may be an impact player, but last I saw the depth on the Redskins is not too great and gaining additonal picks would at least give the team the chance to addressing this. I know it takes 2 to tango and I am not saying the Redskins should trade just for the sake of trading - I don't like us having to give away to make a deal happen. I'm just saying if something that makes sense (preferably using the point system that most GM's use when making trades) I would be happy if they did this. |

Adams won't play at 261 as a pro. He has the frame for more weight. Chances are he won't lose a step at 275.

Carter is a liability in run defense as well. The only way that having two pass rushing DEs will work is if you have two behemoth run stuffing DTs. We don't. If we want to stop the run, we need run stuffers.
