Coles's toe is better
Good news everyone it says in this article that LC toe is doing better. Thank the god lord all mighty. I don't know about you guys, but this has been something that has had me nervous all offseason. I think LC is gonna play a major part in the season coming up, and i just hope he's health. He really probably should have had surgury but i guess thats out of the question now. Here's the article from the post.

Even if Coles toe fell off I think he'd still be better than most of the wide receivers in the NFL.

Let's not get carried away guys, we only have Fred Smoots word that LC's toe is better. I think I will reserve judgement until he blows by the Broncos secondary in the HOF game.

im still not convinced. And Winskins...you can't be serious that if coles fell off we'd be ok. We have depth at WR...but no one is close to coles ability (even rod gardner)

I was having a discussion tonight at dinner with a bunch of highly educated people, in terms of sports. All of which do nothing but read sports, and work as sports broadcasters, so it was interesting to hear an outside opinion. Heres what they said:
1. Coles is a good receiver, still not in the class of the top five 2. Gardner never panned out to be anything, hes a decent receiver but not a threat that teams gameplan against 3. Thrash sucks, that he has not proven to be a good receiver and that the Eagles had the worst set of receivers in the league last year. We all like thrash and give him props becuase he started last year and because he was a redskins, but in all reality hes not that great of a receiver. He doesnt produce and makes a lot of mistakes. If Coles goes down because of his toe or whatever I think we will be hurting at receive. We hvae great depth when it comes to running large receiver sets. Our 4th guy is better then most teams 4th corner. But that doesnt mean that any of them could step up into a starting role. Everyone is high on jacobs because he had flashes of greatness in a camp that im not even sure if they were wearing pads. That proves onthing. We all have the optimism of Gods for our team but when you try to argue with an outside educated opinion we dotn really have much to work with in terms of receivers. Coles is the man on our receiver core and has the potential to become a top five receiver in the NFL. Other than that all we have is a bag full of potential and optimism. Which dont get me wrong, we all have a ton of faith in our coaching staff and out players. But as redskins fans it doesnt matter how much talent we have on paper, we're going to wait until our team proves it because all we've done is get laughed at by everyteam in teh league, year in and year out. I hope this is our time to shine. And I dont mean time as in this year, but over the next few years. GO SKINS.

I'm having this vision of Canes unwittingly walking onto the set of ESPN's The Sports Reporters
Coles is by far our best receiver and probably only going to get better, but right off the top of my head Harrison, Holt, Moss, Ward, and T.O are better. So that's five right there Gardner is out of excuses. He's gotta be that dependable, Henry Ellard-type this year or a change has to be made. Thrash is no. 3 or 4 receiver at best. And I think even he will tell you that. It's not his fault that the Eagles chose to throw all that money his way and pay him like a no. 1 receiver. Is it? But overall I think we compare favorably to the rest of the division

-Coles isn't a top 5 WR, but I'd put him in the top 10.
-Gardner needs to step it up this year, I think we all can agree on that. -Thrash is nothing special, but he does have a great work ethic and he has shown flashes at times. He's better suited for working out of the slot, not as a go-to guy as he was in Philly. Plus let's not forget he's an excellent return man. |

speaking of return man, in 2k5 they have Morton as the number one returner, obvioulsy, but they have jacorbs as the number two returner. Where did they come up with that, do they not do any research at all when they make the rosters. I think ESPN spent so much time making the game pretty that they spent very little time doing player and team research. Madden clearly is the leader and put more time into the finer details in that aspect of the game.
