This quote from Samuels says it all
This a quote from Chris Samuels on a WP article, it says it all. For all of you who want a young coach, remember where they learned it from. Just like in martial arts remember the "master" (Gibbs) is the person with the knowledge.
"Coach Gibbs is the best coach I've ever had," he said yesterday. "I respect him. I admire him in a lot of ways. He definitely still has the passion. A lot of people want to question that, but I think he's a great coach. I think we need to pick our game up. The plays that they designed, we need to execute 'em. And we didn't do it." |

Re: This quote from Samuels says it all
I have all the respect in the world for Joe Gibbs. I still believe his coaching and philosophy can still translate to wins in the modern era. There are just a few tweaks, especially on the deep threat and converting the passes we throw. If we can get the passing game in effect, we should be able to play with the best of them.
I hope that he will coach 1 more season after this year. I'd like to enjoy and savor the Gibbs era. Just like how when MJ retired from Basketball, you try not to take for granted. Because you'll end up missing them and wishing they were still playing, coaching, etc. |

Re: This quote from Samuels says it all
Here is another telling quote:
Several veterans said they have learned to brace for confusion on the sideline in crucial situations, and doubt it will change nearly four years into the regime. "It's frustrating, but it's not anything new to us," one said. "We look at it like it's something we have to overcome." Another veteran said that players talk among themselves about the coaching decisions, but that he did not sense the players would begin turning on Gibbs, who has praised their effort each week. Tackle Chris Samuels, a Redskin since 2000, said the players have more than their own share of problems to overcome, rather than worrying about coaching decisions. "I just take care of my business, I don't question what the coach calls," Samuels said. "He gets paid a lot of money to do his job." from the post "gibbs defends his calls". You can respect the man (as I do) and still agree that he just doesnt have the killer instinct anymore

Re: This quote from Samuels says it all
The clock management issues are a problem and indicative of indecisiveness. I've seen us burn too many timeouts needlessly. That said, we've burned about 4 timeouts this season unnecessarily. While I have a problem with needlessly burning ANY timeouts, it's not as though those 4 timeouts definitely or even likely cost us a win.
