Sean Taylor's Performance
Sounds like Sean had a monster game - I haven't seen it - how was he?
Also, notice our game breakers (Coles aside) all have 6 on their jerseys? Portis- 26 ...... Lavar - 56 ...... Taylor - 36 just a thought. |

Sean Taylor played extremely well.
2 picks and a TD. Enough said really. -Shawn Springs surprised me with his pick and hopefully it'll scare some teams away. -Coles and Bailey battled on 1 play and w/ a slight overthrow Bailey kept Coles from making a play. -Sultan 'The Chainsaw' McCoullough looked like a solid backup as Rock Cartwright didn't seem to get it going. -Gibbs staff looked poised and showed promise for a good run this season and next. Watching all the penalties and errors. Wishing Jansen a speedy recovery, but this will defintely affect our OL. Glad it happenned now for Bugel to adjust otherwise it might have been to late. Good Skins win for morale of coaches and players. Next game on Saturday!!!

IM almost worried if we win a game against the Cowboys that old white haired guy will just fall over dead. Doesnt look like he can handle much excitement.
Taylor just displaced Andre Lott imo. Taylor looks really large on TV. I wasn't expecting him to look that big. Didnt get a closeup of him during camp either though. |

...Yeah, Sean Taylor should officially move past Andre Lott into the first team.
...Was it just me, or did Joe Gibbs at times look as if he wondered what he'd gotten himself back into? ...I noticed the 26-36-56 jersey thing too. Too bad #76 won't be a part of that sequence this year. ...Cornelius Griffin looked pretty good at times and broke into the backfield. The pocket seemed to collapse frequently when the starters were in. Overall, it did not appear that the defensive line, judging only from last night mind you, would be the problem we all thought it would be. But it's a long season. ...Offensive production is a concern. Brunell, 4 for 8 and 18 yards? Come on, I know they've only been in camp for a little over a week, but still, the running game never really got on track, and the wideouts never really were a factor. Obviously, they need more reps. ...Actually, I don't necessarily want teams to be afraid of Shawn Springs. Teams were afraid of Champ Bailey, and the downside of that is we didn't see as many interceptions. This team desperately needs to get into the plus column of the turnover ratio. Hopefully, Springs, Smoot, Taylor and Bowen will help us get there. |

Taylor definitly has a nose for the ball and he did look big out there. It was fun to watch.

I was speaking more in terms of QB pressure and collapsing the pocket. Not every single play of course, but more so than what we saw last season. But yes, I agree that the run defense needs to get much more stout. Remember though, other than Griffin and Daniels, no one on the coaching staff or front office thought it extremely necessary to address the defensive tackle position or our overall ability at stopping the run. |

Taylor is a monster. As soon as he came in he put a pop on a running back. Lott was ok (where was Ohalete?) but Taylor was everywhere, and he made his presence known. Fantastic because I told my cousin (an Eagles fan) before the game that Taylor was going to get one.
Oh and to continue the 6's, don't forget Cornelius Griffin #96. He flushed Jake Plummer on the pass that Springs picked off. |

And it was #16 (Jafar Willams) who had the big catch that led to #6's (Ola Kimrin) game winning field goal....cue the twilight zone music

Taylor's performance should move him ahead of Lott on the depth chart, period.

Taylor not only looked huge but he is. When i first saw him i was like man that is a big safety and then he picked that pass off in the endzone (nice catch) and then the one were he just flat out showed his speed to swip the ball in front of the receiver for the TD defenitely showed how agile and capable he is in playing. The other thing that impressed me with his size was when he stood next to lavar on the sidelines late in the game, He looked to be about that same size like they were brought from the same mold.
People can say what they want about this KID, and i stress kid cause he will make the kid mistakes, but he looked as if he can flat out play this game and I really beleive he is going to be a force in that secondary.... |

Taylor has been pretty quiet with the media, but he sure let his play speak for himself last night. It couldn't have been a better debut for him.
