Painkillers!!!
I hope this is the right place for this thread (if there's even a place for it). I just got off painkillers today after taking them for 2 years and I have no idea how bad the withdraw will be but I already feel like crap... I wanted to know if anyone has gone through something like this and had any advice on how to get through it because i'm sure i'm going to feel like hell the next few weeks. I've been taking 120 pills a month for 2 years and didn't think i was addicted untill they took them away lol... I've heard of people going to rehab after a few weeks of taking these pills and i've taken them a lot longer so I think I might be in worst shape then a smoker trying to quit smoking.... I hope it wont be so bad so thanks for the help and sorry mods if this thread is in the wrong place or too stupid to be it's own thread i'm just hoping someone can help....

Re: Painkillers!!!
Ummm....dude, 120 pills a month for 2 years and you or your doctor did not think that this was unusual? I hope your doctor gets their license yanked for it. Pain control is something that should be closely monitored by your physician to prevent this exact thing from occuring. Your gonna go nuts for a while, I would seek help from another doctor regarding this and see about a tapering dose that you will wean from in about 6 weeks time.

Re: Painkillers!!!
LOL no it's not as bad as it seems really, I have a messed up back and I never abused the drug or took more then he said i could. one of my co-workers gets a few more than i do but he's going to get them for life. I really don't feel as bad as i thought i would but that's probably cause I never got crazy with them like ppl who crush or snort them.... well I hope I don't feel any worst but I aprreciate the help and I actually feel a little better now then I did when I was on them kind of weird...

Re: Painkillers!!!
Withdrawls are devastating. You should have the same doctor you went to prescribe you Suboxone..a time realeased pill you take daily to reduce withdrawls.

Re: Painkillers!!!
As long as you're mentally committed to being without them, you're fine. What happened to your back, if you don't mind me asking? To the people who think that was too much: You have to look at each case differently. Shingles for example, requires immense pain control and sometimes can leave a person debilitated...but who would have thought that about a rash?

Re: Painkillers!!!
120 pills a month is not that horrendous. Its not uncommon for serious addicts to take 30 or 40 pills a day. You are just going to have to climb the walls for a couple of days. The trick to staying off drugs is to not take them anymore.

Re: Painkillers!!!
It's a football injury from high school which got a lot worst in a car accident. I work a 12 hour job (nights) and I have my own landscaping business I run in the day oh and I go to school full time (and of course deal with my wife when i get home LOL). I can't seem to get rid of the pain but I'd rather tough it out then to keep taking painkillers (even though they feel pretty good lol). My doctor is actually willing to give me more then 120 a month because of the couple jobs and to be honest with you it's not to fun to sit in a classroom when you can't get confortable because your back... I have a friend who does take 40 pills a day and he's in really bad shape right now and he has no reason to take them besides the "good feeling". I really appreaciate the ideas and the posts and I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm feeling pretty good but still some temptation... I feel really old but i'm only 21 lol but really guys thanks and hopefully I don't run into any of you because I might be kind of cranky lol
