Smoke Signals for Dec 18: 'The Greatest Redskins Ever' edition
Sammy Baugh was the greatest Redskin ever but does that understate things?
Is Clinton Portis over-hyped and overpaid? What does Washington's 2009 draft look like? Who is healthy and who is not for Sunday's game against Philly and their drunkard fans? All that and more in today's edition of Smoke Signals. Read it now.

Good news wrap.
You know, I have been thinking about Clinton Portis, the level of play and talent he has brought tot he Redskins, the heart and dedication we get from him, but also the bad parts, how tight he is with Snyder, the pouting etc... I think at this point, I ma just going to formulate an opinion on Portis for after the season. Fletcher got snubbed, big time!

I love the Thomas Jones/Clinton Portis comparison...pretty much sums up what I have thought about CP since he came to Washington.

Re: Smoke Signals for Dec 18: 'The Greatest Redskins Ever' edition
Good article Spence. That pretty much sums it up for me about Portis. I believe the guy plays with a lot of heart and is a good back. But is he worth what he's being paid? No. Is his value to this team as high as him and Snyder seem to think it is? No. Is he such an important part of this team that he should be allowed to throw the coach or anyone else under the bus according to his mood? Hell no. People like to complain about Betts for some reason but when Portis was out a couple of years ago and Betts was given his chance, I did'nt see any dropoff in production, and he is the ultimate team player. Snyder made a big mistake in trying to build a team around Portis. The money spent on a running back would have been better spent on our lines where games are won and lost.

Betts rushed for 100+ yards 5 straight games (with no passing game) in 06. To me, that was the Skins best rushing attack since CP has been here.
