Reeves and Dallas contract negotiations having issues?

From ESPN:

Dan Reeves, Dallas Cowboys can't agree on job - ESPN

Re: Reeves and Dallas contract negotiations having issues?

Reeves wants complete control of the football organization, or at least a guarantee that he is next in line to have complete control (and not say Mike Shanahan)

On PFT, Florio speculated that Reeves wants final say over Jones... and thats never going to happen.

Re: Reeves and Dallas contract negotiations having issues?

Being a "football person" in charge of "all things football" in Dallas is not all that different from being a "football person" in charge of "all things football" in Ashburn Virginia.

Recall the problems here the next time you fantasize about someone like Bill Cowher or Bill Parcells coming here to "right the ship" for the Redskins' franchise.

However, do not rule out completely a return to the Redskins by Joe Gibbs for a third time. That is not likely, but it could happen...

Gibbs back again? I think not. Gibbs "win-now with overpriced veteran players" philosophy put this franchise back years. He abandoned this team in its darkest hour. Hes ridiculously old. No thanks.

BHA:

I definitely do not think it would be a good idea to bring him back here nor do I think that it is even a 50/50 chance that he will return. But do NOT rule it out...

No way Gibbs comes back again, just no way. Have you seen him lately? He looks about 10 years younger.

This is the second or third time in the past few weeks you've said this SC.

I think if he comes back, it's as a part-owner/figurehead executive. I don't see him taking on any true responsibilities with the team anymore.

Love the guy, but let's move forward now

Now Marty coming back...that's another story

I do not believe that Marty will ever work for Snyder again.

Smootsmack:

I believe that there is about a 10% probablility that Joe Gibbs will be back with the Redskins sometime in the next 3-4 years. Note, that is a long-shot to be sure, but the chance is there.

If he comes back, it will be in a football capacity. I think he would only be the coach again under dire circumstances; but if he comes back to the team, it will be in the football part of the operation. I don't think he will be a figurehead exec or a "show-pony minority owner."

Remember back when Gibbs resigned the first time and JKC kept Gibbs' salary checks in his desk uncashed. That was JKC's way of "leaving the light on" for him. Let me say without any more specifics that I am convinced that the Redskins have "left the light on" once again.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that Marty will never work with Danny Boy again. Neither party wants that to happen...

Re: Reeves and Dallas contract negotiations having issues?

Do you guys remember me suggested Gibbs would come back? And then he did. Shocked the crap outta me. This time? No way, no chance. This team will have problems being consistant and competing against the elite franchises in the NFL until their is a football person in charge of football. Cowher, Parcells. Shit I say bring in Shanahan!

Marty and Dan get along more so than people seem to believe, but that's neither here nor there.

We're talking about Gibbs here (not sure why since the thread is about Reeves), and I suppose it's remotely possible as you say but it is definitely the last thing on his mind right now

I definitely don't agree, I would instead argue that he helped guide the franchise through it's darkest hour. That playoff run was vintage Gibbs, and his leadership and guidance through the Taylor tragedy was unmistakable.
