3 Time Probowler DeAngelo Hall ?

Just thinking of some high aspirations for a certain DB that has a new contract, and on the surface alot of love for the area and team. He seems motivated and i think this could be a big year for the Burgundy and gold secondary.

Well if the line improves as expected, they should get plenty of opportunities to make plays. DeAngelo has proven that he is a threat when he gets his hands on the ball. I expect a good year out of him too.

I really hope they use him as a punt returner as well. With the talent we have on our roster (between Moss, Hall, Thomas, Aldridge, etc) there is no excuse to allow Randle El to run 3 yards right, 3 yards left and drop.

We really need to start taking advantage of the opportunities that punt returns present.

I expect Hall will have a good year. He seems motivated and hungry to show he's a top CB.

Re: 3 Time Probowler DeAngelo Hall ?

I have great memories of D. Hall from when I was in Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA. watching him take a punt return to the house in blowout win over Syracuse. Or the many times I watched him bait qb's into throwing his way & then picking it off.

But behind the scenes he was rumored to be a problem in college, and in the nfl his rep quickly became that of talented, but self-centered, bad teamate.

It does seem as if he's trying to rebuild his game & image. I was not for signing him, but if he plays up to his talent level & is cool w/his teamates & coaches, the guy is about as good as any cb. Plus, he has a nose for the ball & is dangerous once he gets it.

If he plays disciplined, Rogers & the other cb's will be seeing a lot more of the ball, and on occassion he'll make qb's pay for going his way. Let's hope he plays w/discipline & doesn't gamble every other play.

Now that he's here I'm really rooting for him & hoping he can become a long-term skin. Let this guy return some punts too!

I hope for a great year from him and Rogers as well, and to lock Rogers up.

We will certainly see more picks, and hopefully defensive points scored. But I would be amazed if our defense does not give up a more than a couple big plays on Hall's side. All in all, Hall will definitely be talking the talk.

He will indeed get more picks this year as he gets to know the defense better.

He will also probably give up more long gains/TDs because he will gamble on coverages trying to make picks that he misses.

Those two things tend to go hand in hand except for the truly Hall of Fame quality CBs. Be prepared to see both happen this year...

Good DB he's saying all the right things. Until he does us, meaning the SKINS, wrong i beleive he's turned a new page.

I expect DeAngelo to make some good plays and some bad plays this year, 2009, on the football field.

Brought to you by Zorn syntax.

Re: 3 Time Probowler DeAngelo Hall ?

There are a lot of things positive about Hall this year. First, he's going to be the number TWO cornerback, right? Doesn't that mean he goes against the number two, or second-best WR's? And then the killer D-line with DH/AC/Rak creating bad QB choices.

I can't wait to finally get TURNOVERS.

Here's an old article from last year:

Quote:
Most interceptions since 2005 (as of 11/08):
Champ Bailey 22
Asante Samuel 22
DeAngelo Hall 18
Darren Sharper 17
Charles Woodson 17

sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3684396
And that's not including the two he picked off for us last year..

From what I saw on Redskins Nation earlier this week (yes I occasionally take time to sit through a Larry Michael hosted program), Hall will likely be covering the opponents number 1 this season. But that's fine. Aside from his short stint in Oakland behind Asomugha, he's been the #1 corner his entire career.

I like those stats you posted there. Good stuff. I didn't know Hall was that far up the list in INTs. Man, if our D can stay healthy we could be flat out nasty.

Oops. Sorry, I figured Carlos would finally get the nod. Still can't wait to see him in action..

Yeah, one of the issues in games IMO sometimes for the redskins D was that opposing offenses weren't scared to attempt to throw deep because there wasn't a corner that could a make a play at intercepting the ball.

Having Hall covering a wr would make any qb think twice throwing it into tight coverage and take away some of the qb's comfort level on any play.

Re: 3 Time Probowler DeAngelo Hall ?

Boy, Blache loves him some D-Hall.

I think Rogers' INTs are going to go up considerably this year, and I'm trying to figure out what that will do to Hall's total. It could be a factor of this defense that Hall might just not be the prolific interceptor he was in his previous stops.

I think he'll get 3 INTs this season, which gets him to the pro bowl...if he returns all three for touchdowns.
