Defense Wins Championships!!! Not when you have Brunell as a QB!!!

ok..whoever said this obviously never watched the Skins much. So far the skins have been ranked in the top 5 all season and yet they are 1-4. It seems as if the majority of the opposing teams touchdowns have been because of the Skins Offense. Wait...is that right? As far as I can recollect, the skins offense has given its opponents 3 touchdowns. Hmm..that is 21 points out of 85 (nearly 25%) scored by the opposing teams have been fumbles resulting in touchdowns in the same play. And these don't count the TD's or FG's that eventually resulted on a drive after a Turnover. Ok..now who was involved in all 3 of these? hmm..if I am not mistaken, 2 were botched handoffs by Brunell and one was a fumble by Brunell himself. I know...Cartwright should have made the block and Portis should of had stickum on his side, stomach and hands..but geesh, it seems like Brunell is reminding me of another multimillion dollar mistake (Does the name Deion ring any bells?) Oh don't get me wrong Brunell isn't the only one making mistakes, Portis has had fumblitus throughout the season also. I'm sorry..but I just don't see Brunell being worth 22 million or whatever it was they spent on him. I know he has had quite a few dropped passes...but he has also thrown more passes into the dirt than any QB I have seen. Some of his passes aren't even close. Yeah he has made a few nice throws..but those don't make up for the open receivers he has completely missed.

My personal opinion is to bench Brunell and let Ramsey play. At least with Ramsey we won't expect much and there will be less of a disappointment with him if he makes a mistake.

Post your thoughts or disagreements!

Many of us agree, myself included. Many disagree with valid points as well. I dont even care at this point, I just want to beat Chicago, I dont care if they want to throw my 5.6 40 speed under center, and let me try to win. Beat Chicago with Ramsey, Hasslebeck, Brunell, Hamdan , Tupa , Gardner, MattyK, Smootsmack, Joecrisp, Brud, whoever, just win.

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't care if they win by 1 point or 21 points at this point..just a win would be nice. But if they don't win, I would much rather see Ramsey at the helm getting the much needed experience. Brunell is NOT the Skins QB of the future, Ramsey is. And he needs the experience and confidence. What is Brunell teaching Ramsey? The only thing I can think of that Brunell is teaching Ramsey is how NOT to be a good QB in the NFL. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame it all on Brunell. I think other offensive players (like the offensive line) have got to step up. But he is a leader and is supposed to help the coaches motivate the team. If you look on the sideslines, most of the time you will see Brunell stuck up Gibbs butt instead of over with his offensive line, receivers and backs talking to them. I just don't see Brunell being the leader of the offense. And actually, I really don't see Ramsey being the leader for that matter either (at least not right now). However, both my last comments are my opinion only. I do however see Ramsey stepping into that role once he gains some confidence and experience, but I don't see him doing that sitting on the bench.

All in all, it's time for someone on the offensive side of the field to step up and take charge. Whether it is Ramsey, Brunell, Portis, Coles, or whoever. Someone needs to get in the offense's face and get them motivated. Not just the coaches but the players too. If someone was paying me 22 million dollars, you best believe that I would be running up and down the sidelines yelling and screaming or whatever it takes to get the offense motivated. The Defense can't do it alone but they sure have tried.

My hat is definitely off to the defense. They have kept the Skins in every game and have given them a chance to win. All that needed was the offense to wake up and realize it.

I think that our defense is a good defense, that's played great at times. The're not the steel curtain, L.T.'s giants, or the 85 bears. My point is that while I agree that defenses do win championships those teams still needed production from their offenses and when we start getting some consistency on offense, I think we'll be fine. It has been pretty pathetic on offense at times (well most of the time) and i'll take the Gibb's route and say that the're not executing very well as a whole (understatement) I think the Brunell & Ramsey debate is overplayed. If we had a good offensive line there would be no debate, Portis would be racking up the yards and opposing defenses wouldn't be able to exploit Brunnels weaknesses. Anybody can see he just does't have IT anymore. IMO there is no comparison, 5yrs ago i'd probably take Brunnel over Ramsey, not now. I just think with the way the O-line is playing neither QB would be very successful. I imagine that's the reason why Gibbs won't give Brunnel the hook. If Ramsey is the future i would rather have him in there with a O-line that's playing well, remember last year.

Do you think we'll score more than the Yankees did yesterday? (murderers row04)

Don't know if I should start a separate thread, and hindsight is 20-20, but anyone think we should have picked up Warner or Collins instead of Brunell now?

IMHO if the OL clicks, then we'll start winning again. This week or 2 weeks from now, I don't know but when it does...

Don't get crazy here. I'm so short Doug Flutie comes to my house to get things off the top shelf.

i kinda of wanted garcia the most... collins would have been better, but in hindsight, he's not doing so hot either... i figured warner was washed up... oops.

either way, garcia or warner would have been great pickups, testes or collin might have been better, but all four have looked better than brunell at this point.

I think we should have left them alone, kept our 3rd round pick, and played Ramsey. Even if he made mistakes, would the outcomes be any different?

Defense does win it, (the other team's) when you're going against our offense!

I thought Kurt Warner was washed up too. What got him going? What will it take for Brunell to do the same? It seems that the guys on offense don't do a good job creating plays. When things kind of break down (and most of the time you're not running the "perfect play") guys have to be on the same page!
