Shawn Springs!

He's quietly having a very solid season. A lot of people didn't like the Bailey trade in the offseason because they wondered who could replace Champ.

But Springs has more than done the job.

After 6 games:

Bailey: 24 tackles, 1 INT
Springs: 22 tackles, 3 Sacks, 1 INT

I know a lot of it is the system he's in, but I think Springs has been one of the better DBs in the league this year. What do you guys think?

Springs has been solid. He's been good in coverage but what has been surprising is his ablity on the blitz. He and Smoot make a great tandem. We need to lock up Smoot to a new contract to keep these core guys around.

Locking up Smoot has to be our #1 priority this offsesaon. In fact, I'd like to see him locked up before the season even ends.

They gave Springs the big money for a reason. I think Griffin and Springs have really earned their dollars so far.

springs has been playing well. he even has a shot at the probowl.

but there is no way you can compare cornerbacks by stats. right now teams are avoiding bailey like the plague.

I agree. I just had no other tangible way of saying we're doing just fine with Springs....I've always kind of liked Springs because we played high school football against each other. He gave me a crazy concussion freshman year. Just leveled me.

Remember that hit that Ray Lewis laid on Coles last week? It was sort of like that

LOL! You must've gotten Rocked! Do you have it on tape? I have this one game on tape where I was on kick return and when I turned around to run at the guy, I tripped overmyself and the guy just laid me out cold... we must have watched the thing 100X in a row one day during practice.

nah, I don't have it on tape. It was just a scrimmage really between our two schools. But I did get to hear about it all week in practice.

I am currently praying that Chris kelley (maryland's strong safety) picks it up and makes it to the nfl next year. i sacked him once in highschool. i also got trucked by darnell dockett about 15 times.

Springs has been solid. But, I'm really impressed with Griffins run stopping ability. He gets in the backfield quick. And if I'm not mistaken he had 2 sacks yesterday. Springs and Smoot had some good hits too.

Champ who?
