Why haven't we heard how smart these pick-ups were?

Shawn Springs, Cornelius Griffin & Marcus Washington. Washington's FO was once again abused for overpaying for these players. But it seems to me, with the No.1 offense out there and with all three of these guys making a big difference (with Barrow and Daniels likely to also make an impact) - We haven't seen much of the "Wow - they actually seem to have gotten the right players for the job." (remember - we by-passed Kearse so we could sign Griffin + Washington).

I know Springs has gotten some credit as a "reclamation project" and maybe it's just that the offensive woes have overshadowed the great defensive play or maybe it's all being credited to the coach. Bottom line is, I haven't seen any credit given to the FO for identifying second tier players who fit the system and allowing the coach to create a unit that maximizes the abilities of the aquired talent.

Sorry, just more venting.

I've seen some props going our way for Griffin, Washington and Springs. But more of the props go to Williams, and probably rightfully so. He seems to be able to plug in anybody and get production.

Considering all the injuries & poor production on offense, the FO hit the jackpot with these players (Daniels is still a ?) considering the defense is still #1. Barrow is an upgrade from last year (Trotter was a bust) too bad he's injured. Good thing that Pierce has stepped up.

in many ways we chose brunell instead of kearse. imagine kearse on the line and ramsey qbing the team. then we'd have the skins that everyone expected.

I think that you're kind of right there. I think that it is just the fact that people dwell on the bad when bad things are happening, but stay focused on the good when good things are happening. I think that if we were winning that some of the talk about the front office would change.

Easy, because we're 2-5.

I don't recall anyone saying that Marcus Washington was anything less than a great signing by the FO from day one. Go dig out my postings and you'll see that I thought he was the most important acquisition in the off-season over Portis and Brunell.

Everyone thought Springs was a good signing as long as he stayed healthy - which he had not done for the past couple of seasons but has done so far.

Griffin has had a really good year in the past and then really mediocre ones after that. On the basis of his history, I'll wait until he does it one more time before I say that was a great signing.

Barrow cannot possibly be considered a "good signing" since he has yet to play a down.

Daniels has been in and out with injuries too. The best grade you could possibly give Barrow and/or Daniels at this poinit is an "Incomplete".

To show why this kind of question is unfair midway through the season, should we berate the FO for taking Sean Taylor with the #5 pick because he has not played that much and certainly has not played all that well so far? Oh yeah, and he's in trouble with the law too, that shows how big a bunch of dumbasses they are, right?

Actually I remember hearing plenty about how we would regret signing Springs to such a big contract.

The really pleasant surprise to me has been Griffin. He's lived up to his potential in every sense and has really become a force on the DL. He should definitely get some serious consideration for a Pro Bowl spot.

Where is all this hate for Gibbs coming from? All you do on this board is hate on Gibbs.

We would have more wins with Spurrier, or my choice for the vacancy, Denny Green.

Granted, we wouldnt have Williams if Gibbie didn't come back, but if lets say Spurrier got him, we would have the top defense and at least a respectable offense instead of one of the worst. As far as Denny, he's a proven winner and a great coach who wouldn't need this "time to get reaquainted with the game." Don't the Cards have the same record as us...with Josh McNown and Emmitt Smith...it's a miracle they won 2 games and are respectable.

I'm with you VA tech. I support Gibbs and still believe in him, but i do not believe that criticizing him is off limits. When you are 2-5 you should expect criticism, regardless of how many rings you have.
