Giants curiously pull contract offer to WR Burress

What is wrong with this guy? He's gotten barely any interest in a soft WR market and now the only team even remotely on the radar walks away after meeting him? He must have issues.

Yeah, I'm really surprised. Are they afraid he's another Peerless Price? A solid #2 who was made to look much better because of the receiver opposite him?

Nah, the Giants are pissed because he didn't show for the first meeting, and Tom Coughlin, thinks, if a cold can keep him away, who's to say, what will

Re: Giants curiously pull contract offer to WR Burress

nah i guess they were concerned about him maybe cuz he hasn't gotten a lot of interest on the free agent market. if minnesota signs him we can't trade gardner to them, so i hope he either doesn't get signed and has to wait a hella long time, or he reduces his offer so much that some team will take a chance on him. maybe the bucs or the 49ers or possibly the dolphins would take him.

I hope someone ahead of us in the draft takes a chance on him. Maybe Tennesee or somthing like that; maybe open a door for us to nab Williams.

I think it was implied that the Giants only pulled the offer after Burress rejected it. Sounds like a pissing contest to see who can save face best.

that's what i got out of it 2, that burress thought he's worth more than what the 2 deals that the giants offered and in answer to being turned down the giants backed out and called off the talks.

Re: Giants curiously pull contract offer to WR Burress

maybe the Giants thought they could get him incredibly cheap since he hasn't had any interest, but Burress won't by into that..........Or maybe the Giants want to stop pursuing Burress in order to pursue James........ Anyone that thinks that our WR corp is bad.....just look at the Giants.

Re: Giants curiously pull contract offer to WR Burress

Plax might be an Eagle according to the Philadelphia Enquirer:

"The Eagles are lurking on the fringes of the Plaxico Burress situation, hoping to snag a bargain. The Eagles would not confirm an NFL Network report last night that had them faxing Burress a contract offer, and Burress' agent, Michael Harrison, could not be reached for comment. But a source close to the situation said the Eagles and Harrison have talked more than once since Harrison contacted the team several days ago. The source said the Eagles are interested in a 1-year deal with Burress, at the right price; Harrison has said he would consider a 1-year deal with the right team, which might build a better platform for free agency than the 35 catches for 698 yards Burress managed this past season for the run-oriented Steelers."

Talented guy no doubt, I just think he's pricing himself a bit too high, and he can't seem to shake the perception that he can be problematic.
