Money for Minicamp!!!

Wow.
I must say I'm proud to be a member of this site! Matty quickly raised $200 to help out Joe Crisp for his minicamp reporting. That's friggin AWESOME!!! I have drank beer and thrown the football with Joe Crisp and he's a well spoken, well informed true fan and one helluva supernice guy. His girl was really darn nice as well. I met them at a game last year during our tailgate pregame in the parking lot. Thing is the night before I'd gotten so drunk I fell and on my face and scabbed it up real good. Thought getting loaded would help me gotta bed early (since I usually work late) to get up by 8am to drive up for a 1pm kickoff. Great to meet real people and real fans. Thanks Matty, Joe and everyone that pitched in for his trip! His services ofcourse our worth much more than $200! This site rules. I admit I've been reading more than posting lately and watching the extremeskins site (where the first news of the Taylor being wanted for questioning was on any skins/news site on the net)... Forever warpath!!! GO SKINS!!! :headbange

Re: Money for Minicamp!!!

Thanks a lot, Luxorreb, and thanks a million to all of you who donated to the minicamp fund. I can't tell you all how much that means to me that you've been so generous.

Like Matty said, usually I pay for these trips out of my own pocket, but money's extremely tight right now, and my wife would have a conniption if she found out I poured a couple hundred bucks into a trip to Redskins Park.

I didn't get a chance to post on the original thread before the $200 was raised and Matty closed the thread (man, that was amazingly fast!), but I really do want to thank each and every one of you for your contribution. That's what makes The Warpath a special place.

anyway we can hook you up with housing? i know hotels are going to be the major hit on that money, so taking care of that would help stretch it farther...

Sorry for locking down the thread so quickly, I just didn't want people to keep contributing when they didn't have to.

I was really impressed with how quickly we came up with some loot to give JC a hand. It really shows what a great community we have here and how people are willing to step up and help out.

Thanks again everyone!

I've considered staying with relatives or friends in the area, but decided I would probably be far more productive in the monk-like seclusion of a hotel room. I tend to get awful cases of writer's block when I'm around people (I know, that sounds terribly misanthropic, but it really has more to do with being interested in people than being annoyed/distracted by their presence), so I found that staying by myself in a nearby hotel last year was very conducive to the writing process.

I've also developed a nasty habit of smoking like a fiend when I go on these trips, and staying up writing and researching at all hours of the night. You could say I get a little neurotic when I'm working on these reports. I'm not sure I'd want anyone witnessing me in that state, to be quite honest-- particularly someone who isn't familiar with some of my more "unsavory personality traits" .

I definitely appreciate the generosity and willingness of you and other members to open your homes to me, and it definitely makes sense as far as alleviating the financial burden of the trip, but I think it's best for everyone involved if I just stick to the hotels.

Re: Money for Minicamp!!!

sounds good, and yeah, my condo is a bit smoke-free (the person i bought it from chain smoked and it took me like 2 weeks to scrub the tar out of everything (walls/glass/floors) etc, so i guess we should stick to what works

you should do a total ambush interview on taylor though... ask him how he can be so fscking stupid and if he has to really work hard on being such a screwup. Then you shsould probably run... fast.
