WP Article Today- Gardner Trade Speculation
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Mar31.html
He mentions Baltimore as a possible trade partner for Gardner- Do they have anyone we think they would let go that would fill one of our needs on the D-Line? Do you guys think we should keep Gardner? What's the lowest round draft pick you think we should accept if we do, if not a player? |

I don't think RG is worth more than a 4th or 5th to other teams right now. This is impossible I know, but what if we got Ed Reed for him?

I think we have to trade him. We have too many needs to horde receivers. I'd take nothing lower than a third rounder.

Quite simply, we should trade Gardner (hee hee, just yanking your chain RSF).
Kidding aside, I think we are loaded at WR. As long as Gibbs is comfortable, AND we can get a 2nd OR a good starting quality DL, then we should trade Gardner. Nothing against the guy, I like him but he is probably the only one we have to trade that gets us any kind of quality. I don't think we should trade just to trade so, unless we get a player we can plug into the DL now or have someone in mind in the 2nd round who we believe will start immediately , I am not sure we should trade just to pick up a draft pick. I wouldn't be surprised if RG is part of some type of package deal in which Redskins move around in the first (maybe moving down a notch or two, picking up a later first pick, and getting Tommy Harris or Udzechi in addition to KW II OR Taylor). |

I hear you on that one JoeR. Would not surprise me at all to see him becoming a part of some draft day deal to help us pick up extra picks. I don't know what they're thinking exactly, but I just doubt we'll stay this loaded at WR with holes elsewhere, as BleedB said....
Looking at Baltimore's depth chart, I don't see them helping us with any of their current players, as I don't think they'd give up anyone we'd want, so maybe a 2nd rounder??? |

If you guys are desperate to trade someone of value just so we can get draft picks, how about the beloved Patrick Ramsey. I know we could get a first round pick for him. He is only a back up.

I think a 3rd is the best we can hope for, anything better would be pure gravy.
I wouldn't trade him unless we can get at least a 3rd. As for trading Ramsey, I don't see it happening. Why? Quite simply, depth. |

Trading Ramsay (qb of the future) may guarrantee a first rounder but destroys the depth at the games most important position. We got tons of No. 2 WR's. We only got one "qb of the future". Last edited by JoeRedskin; 04-01-2004 at 10:53 AM. |

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him head up I-95 to B-more. They are desperate for a solid #1/#2 receiver, and he would fit in well. I think they will try to get a 2nd, but end up settling for a 3rd rounder. The Skins should not offer anything though....let teams come to them. It seems they are doing that by saying they have no intention of trading him...I remember similar things being said about Trotter, B Johnson, and Bailey...

I would not consider letting Gardner go to the Ravens who need a WR despearately for anything less than Ed Reed and Ray Lewis and Peter Boulware and a third round pick.
Psych...

You are hilarious Mattyk! (I'm not gonna let you get under my Redskin anymore, try as you may
Hey Defensewins- don't you think we're a little overloaded at WR and should try to shore up the D or do you think we can't get proper value for Gardner? |

The question is really, what is proper value for Gardner? He's had one 1000 yard season in his career, he has a penchant for dropping balls when uncovered, and he is measurably worse than our top WR (sorry, Rod). He's also measurably better than our 3rd
