Sean Taylor rated best in entire DRAFT
Wow- this is pretty impressive- This guy has Taylor rated as the best player in the entire draft! I said in an earlier post my dream scenario was us trading down to #10, picking up Udeze and an extra second round pick and taking Starks- but this has me rethinking that! I can't wait for draft day to see what happens!

Didn't ESPN's John Clayton (or maybe someone else) say something like that a few weeks ago as well? That just based on skills Sean Taylor is the best player in the draft

They have said Taylor is the best player in the draft for months now. Not many people have argued it. People dont think a safety will ever go number 1, but they think hes the most talented.
NO ONE that has acutally watched him play thinks he is anything less than a premiere player. Everyone who critisizes him does it based on things they think or have read. If you saw Ed Reed play in college you would have been amazed as well, there were two games that Ed Reed one by picking a pass and scoring on the play, one of which was 96 yards long. And Sean Taylor looked twice as good as Ed Reed did, and all Ed Reed did was win defensive rookie or the year, lead the league in picks....

With the 5th pick of National Football League Draft, the Washington Redskins (better) select University of Miami.....Safety Sean Taylor....any questions?
My concern is Dan "never met an offensive player I did not want to draft" Snyder and Vinnie "bag o doughnuts" Cerrrato might jump in here and screw everything up. I think they are going to want Kellen Winslow Jr. Hopefully Gibbs and staff will step in and send Cerrato to 7-11 for some cofee and distract Snyder by having him study the idea of installing coin meters on the toilets at the stadium. Any luck of bringing Charlie Casserly back, I know hes with the Texans now but everyone knows Snyder will use his checkbook to get someone if he wants them. Its a shame we just extended Cerratos contract

I think the best thing for us would be if someone would slip a micky in Danny's breakfast drink. Let him sleep though the draft and let Gibbs run the show. Well a man can dream can't he?

Taylor as the best in this draft. I don't think so! Sorry but when we look back at this draft years from now and see who was the best it will be Larry Fitzgerald!!!! Now I know that WR is a spot we don't need but he is the best in this draft!!!!

Fitzgerald is definitly a talented receiver, probably the most talented to come out of the draft in a very long time. Hes going ot have to pull a Jerry Rice, show everyone that you dotn have to be the most gifted receiver athletically, becuase he is not. Im sure he will do well whereever he goes. BUT, Larry has never gone up against a pro defense, the closest thing hes seen is the Canes defense. Against the Canes he didnt do jack sh**. Well, he scored a touchdown, late in the fourth quarter, against our backups. Prior to that he couldnt even touch the ball. That is why he is not ranked as the best player, because Sean Taylor shut him down.

Fitz isn't even the best receiver in the draft. Roy Williams has been deystroying defenses for four years, and even when that loser Chris Simms was chucking the ball at him he caught them. All of his numbers (40, vert, long, shuttle, etc) beat Fitzgeralds. He has all the intangibles, work ethic, etc.
I still see Fitz as first off the board because he has a close relationship with Dennis Green, but I think Roy Williams is the star of the best WR trio to come out in a long time. Roy, Fitz, Mike (which people, including myself, are kind of skeptical about.) Don't turn this into a Mike WIlliams thread, if you want me to explain, start a new one. Sean Taylor is an amazing player and I would love to have him! As far as getting rid of Snyder/Cerrato and handing the draft over to Gibbs... I know you guys look for any possible reason to bash the FO, but if we leave Gibbs alone the chances of us drafting Winslow go way up. He's the one so high on the guy, he's the one that knows his father, he's the one that will pull for him to be drafted. Snyder likes the offense, but offense is exciting and sells tickets, but he hasn't exactly ignored our defense. Pulling in Champ, Smoot, Arrington, Washington, etc. I think he wants talent, Winslow and Taylor both bring plenty of it. EIther way, I'm satisfied. Taylor is slightly higher on my list. |

Is it just assumptions and rumor that has Gibbs so in love with Winslow Jr.?
The reason I ask is because I have yet to see a single direct quote from Joe Gibbs himself saying, " I think Winslow Jr. is the pussy cats pagama's and favor drafting him." I have yet to much less see a single direct quote from Gibbs saying which players he likes. Can anyone provide one? Then I will start to rightfully assume that Gibbs prefers Winslow Jr....because until I hear it from Gibbs it sounds more like deductve reasonning from the press and Warpath posts, rather than actual fact. The only thing thats been said was that they wanted to target Winslow or Taylor, said by the redskins FO, mabye gibbs. The rest is just theory about how he coached his rather and yadda yadda

Joe Gibbs is very cryptic in his assessments of the players he already has on his roster, so he's not going to come out and say anything directly about any particular player in the draft. The most you're going to get out of him is the standard "he's a very talented young guy", but he's not going to point to any one player and say, "that's the guy I want!"
The belief that Joe Gibbs favors Winslow is based almost entirely on conjecture by the media, who are simply basing their assertions on the fact that Gibbs coached Winslow Sr., the H-back is a key component of his offense, and there isn't a standout player at that position as yet. For all we know (the media included), Gibbs may be perfectly happy with Sellers, Chamberlain, et al, and the offensive personnel in general, and will yield to Gregg Williams' draft preferences. Given Winslow's signing with the Poston brothers, the need to solidify the defensive backfield following Champ Bailey's departure-- and the signings of Keyshawn and T.O. by the Cowboys and Eagles-- I would say Taylor is the heavy favorite. But that's purely speculative! |
