You will respect the Skins passing now!

Things just got better for Portis and worse for anybody facing the Skins. You can't just stack the box anymore.

Moss has the speed to get open, Brunnel can get the ball there, and we still have Patten, Jacobs, Cooley, and Thrash.

I could just feel the Skins confidence building as the fourth quarter wore on.

Is this a game a fluke or has the chemistry really started to develop?

Those two throws were no fluke. They were right on the money. Can Brunell make those consistantly? I don't know. But you will see us go downfield more often. He'll have to do it again though to get teams from stacking the line against Portis.

Im ecstatic about the victory. But I hate watching the Redskins celebrate like they won the superbowl. We also have a lot of questions on this team. Dont expect for Brunell to do this often.

I sure hope this is the beginning of something.

Brunell should see now that he can go down the field and Moss is a playmaker they need to take full advantage of.

What do you expect them to do, walk off the field like nothing happened??

This was a HUGE win, let's not try to downplay things, this was a HUGE win for the Redskins.

Re: You will respect the Skins passing now!

I was very happy to see the skins celebrating like they won the superbowl. Man, those guys work hard and have never quit. They know what everyone thinks of them. Everyone is against them. But they pulled it out. It's not a superbowl, but it was a huge emotional win, against our arch rivals in Dallas, after being down 13-0 and looking for all the world like we were dead.

As for the long game--keep throwing em. Hopefully this will begin to loosen things up. Great to actually see us get BEHIND the last defender AND hit the thing in stride. SPeed kills, yo.

Brunell made things happen- the longer he was in there the better he threw. The scramble was great; how nice was it to see a real no crap bomb? If Brunell can threaten that kind of pass each game Portis will own, he dosn't even have to complete it all that often.

This comment you could be one of the national people who picked the Saints and Cowboys across the board. It feels good to prove their overpaid how do you get a job asses wrong. I think I could be a analyst and just copy what the previous guy said and pick Saints and Cowboys. Overhyped ass Cowboys who I heard many people on local radio say was going to win by 2 TDS. When our we going to start looking at this years season and not last year and the off season for who is going to be good the skins have the talent.

What's the status on Patten and Jacobs' health? I saw they both got hurt. Was it just a coincidence that the offense seemed to open up some more when Jacobs came in for Patten?

This was a huge win. Does it mean will go to the playoffs and all our problems went away? No, but it is still a victory worth celebrating and having a good ol time going into the bye week. Those guys deserve to celebrate, because no one else believed in them except themselves.

Guess what? We're actually going into October and our season is NOT over!

Re: You will respect the Skins passing now!

I'm not saying this is a superbowl or anything like that. I'm just saying that was one of the all-time sweetest skins wins I have ever seen. The way the whole thing went down was like a movie script or something. And against our most hated rivals in their foul-looking stadium on their "ring of honor" night, etc etc. Amazing. Gibbs said it was one of the highlights of his sport's life. It was an amazing comeback win.

I agree. I hope this is a sign that Gibbs will stop being so rigidly conservative and let Brunell take some legitimate shots downfield-- and that Brunell will continue to take those shots and complete them!

If Gibbs opens it up earlier in the game and threatens the defense downfield more often, it should definitely open things up for Portis and Betts. Hopefully, Gibbs will look at the first six quarters that Brunell played this season and realize that the old dink-and-dunk approach will get this offense nowhere fast. He can't keep waiting until the team is up against the ropes to start calling a real passing game. Safe, short passes are a smart component of any passing offense-- but they shouldn't comprise the entire passing offense!

Here's to flashbacks of Rypien-to-Clark!

Re: You will respect the Skins passing now!

I think some of the doubters need to realize we waited for a desperate time to take desperate measuresw and hopefully gibbs learns from this. But doubters must realize we just took 2 big long shits in the mouths of one of the best D's in the league in a 4 minute span. (Not to mention a recently unbeatable rival, hated opposing coach, on a sacred day for the franchise in their house.) Coach listened to Moss on the sideline and he called the play this is coaches call, so Gibbs had something to do with this.
