Peerless Price a Cowboy?

Normally I wouldn't start a thread based on a report posted on profootballtalk.com, but the Dallas Morning News is corroborating the site's report (below) that the Cowboys have an interest in signing Peerless Price.

The Dallas Morning News reports on its web site that free-agent receiver Peerless Price has talked with the Cowboys about a possible relationship.

"I think he's a pretty good player," coach Bill Parcells said of Price. "We’re just trying to turn over every rock."

Patrick Crayton currently is the third receiver behind Keyshawn Johnson and Terry Glenn. Price likely would bump Crayton to No. 4 -- and bump current No. 4 Quincy Morgan out of town.

Price had his best season in 2002 with current Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe throwing passes to him. Bledsoe signed with the Cowboys in the offseason.

It'd be ironic, in our view, if Price were to sign with the Cowboys. His experience as a great No. 2 but a dud as a No. 1 wideout has drawn comparisons to former Dallas receiver Alvin Harper, who was a stud as second fiddle to Michael Irvin but worthless as to the go-to guy in Tampa.

In Buffalo, Price flourished in an offense that featured go-to receiver Eric Moulds. Though an aging Keyshawn ain't quite the same as Mike Irvin in his prime, Price clearly wouldn't be the No. 1 in Dallas.

And that might be the best bet for Price at this stage of his career.

An unknown receiver like Patrick Crayton proved to be very dangerous against us in Dallas last year. You can bet that Price, along with every other Cowboy will step up big time against Washington.

For once, I'd like to see Washington players do the very same against Dallas.

Honestly, there's no receiver I really worry about in the NFL besides TO and Moss. Just as Beemnseven pointed out, you can get burned by anyone. We shut down TO a whole game and then against the Cowboys one pass to an unknown beats us, it's always a crap shoot. Now if we play OUR game with OUR D and OUR O, I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Good points.

If we're worried about Peerless Price the season is already lost.

I think it's just the fact that we don't like anyone going to teams in our division. Granted, we play them two times a year, but none of us had the freakouts we're having now when Moss went to the Raiders and we DO play them this year (at least once ).

And honestly, Keyshawn and Peerless are very similar. It'll just give Taylor someone else to smack in the mouf.

I'm just happy that for once it's other teams in the division scrambling to pick up someone else's garbage.

We've been garbage pickers for years. Nice to see that come to an end.

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

The wide reciever rebirth is pretty rare in the nfl. Once they start going downhill it's like a degenerative condition. I guess he could have been completely misused in Atlanta? I do lilke the chemistry they got going in that Dallas wr corps. What a bunch of prima donna has bens!

Amen to that... we don't need anything else. I think we're set.

I'm taking my son, son-in-law, and my son's Father-in-law to the Raidaz game. My son-in-law insists he will wear a Raidaz jersey. We all plan to razz him all the way up and all the way back down the road!

Considering how well our defense handled Moss and T.O. last year, even those two shouldn't worry us that much.

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

I like Peerless Price as a wideout (Go Vols!) but he doesn't really scare me as a potential Cowboy. We've got 13 dbs on the roster, surely one of them will be able to knock the beejeezus out of Price.

Im bittersweet about this potential signing

On the positive, Price, along ith Glenn have been 2 of the 3 (Moulds) most prolific WR's Bledsoe thrown to in his career

Considering how injury prone Glenn has been, price has the ability to step up to the #2 or 3 WR very quickly

BUT...

Crayton has been the best WR for us in TC this year

If the Price signing knocks him down to the 4th slot, this signing is a mistake

Price is not a ST guy either so Crayton could very well be the #4 guy because of his ST ability
