Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game

Andy Dalton is Andy Dalton. Cincinnati is not DC. By the way, Dalton seems to be a lot more effective under Hue Jackson than Gruden. Coming out of college Dalton was graded a lot higher. Dalton was an early second round pick. Cousins a 4th rounder. Dalton was a proven winner in college. Cousins not so much. He can replace RG3 but he better win. The 4th quarter against the eagles raised some eye brows.

Joe Thiesmann swore by Beck the same way.

Gary please change your name. I'm starting to dislike Gary Clark because of you. The fact that you correlate success in the NFL by the round you are drafted shows your ignorance. Was Tom Brady a proven winner in college? Moreover, KC was pretty clutch in college.

So Cousins sucks because he was a fourth round pick, and Joe T was wrong about Beck?

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game

Everyone was high on Beck in practice. Players, Coaches, Media, everyone.

The problem was he crapped his pants on game day.

Theisman said he looked good in practice. Which matches pretty much everyone's thoughts that watched him...

I also enjoy watching people make proclamations about Dalton under a new coach 3 games into the season. Or Cousins for that matter.

Agree on your take about three games in. No doubt. Lets atleast get halfway through the season before we start sending anyone to the pro-bowl.
However (lol), I remember alot of people "scoffing" at the idea of Beck and Grossman going into the season. Not sure I would say everyone was high on Beck. If they were they were probably....well....high themselves.

Yeah, well that's fair. There are always people on both sides.

But I specifically remember Cooley discussing Beck as one of the first topics when his radio show happened and his cohosts were picking his brain on some of the recent Redskins cluster f***s while Cooley was on the roster.

In regards to Beck he essentially said he was great in practice. Everyone on the field felt confident that Beck was the starter-to-be. They loved the way he handled himself, the way he practiced, etc. That includes players and coaching staff.

Which is why... at 3-1... with Grossman having a bad game... Shanahan brought Beck out for the second half against the Eagles (I was at that game... what an awful game... Rex threw like 3 picks in the first half...) and when Beck took the field... according to Cooley, everyone was like...
"What the f*** is this... what is wrong with him..."

He looked lost, confused, terrified. He ran around and just dumped the ball off every play.

They gave him a few more shots and finally everyone realized... this guy sucks, he's good in practice but he cannot handle the real thing.

And so ended the John Beck Experiment

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game

Was probably the worst qb play i have ever seen at that level. I dont think he ever attempted a pass more than 7 yards. That was a very dark period of Redskins History.

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game

yeah... one of many...

I generally hate reading all the pessimism about this team... but when you go over the recent history and see how many proposed upswings turned out to be completely hollow and eventually lead to the team being a laughing stock again, it's hard to blame anyone.

i just hope between cousins and griffin we've found a franchise qb. if not i don't know how i'll get out of the pending depression...

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game

Cousins and Griff have already done so much more than Beck. It is not just the Redskins that propose upswings. Every year before every season every fanbase is excited about their season. Lol. I listen to Sirius NFL channel, and the hosts and callers (before the season starts) are ready for a huge year. This preseason seemed especially ridonkulous with hype. I remember several times thinking "wow according to these guys there isnt going to be one team that misses the playoffs this year".

John Beck is among my least favorite Redskins of all times. Acted all high and mighty because he "led" lockout practices. If Rex hadn't caught pneumonia, he may have never gotten his chance at all and we'd never have had to deal with that awful stretch of him playing QB

But that's in the past

With a career QBR of 67 and an 0-7 record as a starter, who wouldn't act high and mighty? Let Peyton Manning match those numbers, bitch!
