Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
Jordan Reed out (again). Sheesh. Someone tell that guy to touch is frigging toes every once in a while. Knee injuries are one thing, but hammies ought to largely be preventable.

49ers will be missing RT Anthony Davis and Jonathan Martin starting in his place.

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
I heard his next contract is going to be with the touch football league since he's the Mr. Glass of the NFL.

49ers Pregame Thread
We've had some bad injury karma this season -- Orakpo, Reed, Cofield, RGIII, DHall, Nield (I was actually looking forward to seeing what he could do this year), Porter (yeah, Porter who?), and now T. Williams and Murphy. On a team without a lot of depth, that's pretty hard to overcome.

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
Cowboys game part 2.
on offense Gruden and mcvay make it basic and basic wins for us. Heavy load of run play takes a lot of pressure off our game plan. In the run game, we get hats on hats and Alfmo curns out the yards 3-5 at a time. Limited passing game where we connect on play action to d jax 4-5 times, Reed and garcon on drag routes across the middle, Roberts running inside slants all day, helu on screens = all passing plays that RG3 can excel at. defense i dont know what to expect here. r clark is bad. amerson is subject to being beat. if the pass rush doesnt get home, we lose. Cooley sd the Bucs went max protect all game so that limited our pass rush effect. A defensive touchdown is long overdue. Special Teams I thought roberts was going to break one last week. he was quick to find and hit the lanes but just seemed to get tripped up when he had open grass in front of him. Roberts takes it home on Sunday. D Jax on punts? yes please. Skins 34 49ers 30 |

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
The only reason I have any optimism right now is that it would be entirely consistent with my relationship with the Redskins for them to somehow pull of an inspiring win against the 49ers on the road and allow me to think, "hey, they're actually pretty good," only to then lay a turd in the Colts game and get blown out by 40 points.
Nah, even that isn't going to cause me to think we can win the game. 49ers -- 33 Skins -- 9 I hope I am wrong.

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
I'd just like to see RGIII play better, whatever else occurs. Sadly, that's not likely to happen here. Niners 28-Skins 3.

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
I think the 'skins could win this one ('Skins: 27, 49ers: 24)
I'd like to see a little more creativity from the offensive game plan though. Here's what I'd be putting in for this week......... 1) Roll the pocket on pass plays (it worked for Theisman) RG seems to play better while moving, so why fight it? 2) Flood one side of the field for pass plays (at least in the early going) will help his vision by limiting the field 3) Fake rollout & run counters (and vice-versa) it will slow down the rush on a true pass play 4) Once the Niner's figure out the rollout & start blitzing off the edges, I'd start burning them with quick hitter slants (in & out) I know the Niner D is athletic, but the 'Skins have some athletes too. We just have to get them in space & let the win a few matchups. |

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
Yeah, our fans say that, but how many times have we actually beat a team that's way better than us? One example I guess could be Dallas this year, but they're a division opponent and not that good anyway.
I'm not enough of a homer to think we win this one, but we probably keep it closer than some of the predictions on here. If Griffin plays better and the defense gets some pressure on Kaepernick and maybe even gets a <gasp> turnover... Redskins 17, 49ers 24. |

Re: 49ers Pregame Thread
Come on guys, I know Joe Montana is one of the best, but Richie Petitbon is one of the best at halftime adjustments, and I think the Redskins defense can keep Montana in check. Gotta get Charles Mann and Manley going early though. You know that Green is going to be on Rice like glue all day long!
Just hope Gibbs will continue to pound the rock with Riggins, because eventually, Theismann is going to have to find Alvin Garrett or Charlie Brown deep down field, but Riggins is going to have to keep the 49ers' defense honest. Just wished this game was being played at RFK instead of Candlestick, but you gotta do what you gotta do! (Yes, I had 30 minutes of sleep last night!)
