Blown Coverages - Who do we blame?!
I know we have some folks on this board that go through the film and watch what our team does. Every week we have at least one play where the other team hits a wide open WR for a big play. We're not talking open by NFL standards. We're talking wide open by pee wee football standards.
My question for those of you who understand the X's and O's better than I (so... everyone?) is who should I be angry at? The first few times I was angry at the DBs (normally Ryan Clark). As it happens more and more I feel like it's a coaching issue. If you call a play and your players don't execute, that's on them. If you keep calling the play and learn they can't execute... eventually, that falls on you. I don't see other teams have the consistent break downs in the secondary the skins seem to have regularly. If anyone could do a break down to enlighten me, and other warpathers, it would be appreciated!

Blame haslet, we allowed 13.37 yards per attempt. That is garbage. We don't have any talent at safety

RAHEEM MORRIS!
It's one thing for a player to get beat but it is quite another when players don't even seem to know what to do. Either the players are incapable of learning or the coach has failed to teach them. It seems that a lot of secondary players screw up and they can't all be stupid, so RAHEEM gets the blame, as far as I'm concerned.

The secondary was thin as can be coming into today, going up against the #1 passing team in the league. What happened wasn't the least bit surprising.

Re: Blown Coverages - Who do we blame?!
As I said above, there is a big difference between getting beat and not knowing what to do. Raheem Morris has been flying under the "who is responsible for our horrible secondary" radar long enough.

I could understand if dudes were getting beat off the ball, or if the WRs were making amazing grabs and running crisp routes... But there were at least 3x plays where Fleener and Monclief were running free and clear, like not even a dude in the vicinity. I feel part of it is the defensive schemes, but another part of it is just having stupid ass players who don't know who they're supposed to be covering/lack of communication about plays (If the WR is going to cut in, the S knowing that the CB is going to drop off into zone or what have you and he is now responsible for covering the WR)

I know everyone wants someone to single out and blame, but sometimes you're just not good enough across the board, top to bottom. We just suck. F this team.

Or, we could have a stupid ass secondary coach. I am officially adding Raheem Morris to my shit list. He should be G-O-N-E next season.

I really can't grip the fact that every other game our Defense looks like the Steel Curtain but our offense is hapless --- and the other games our Offense puts up some points and scores 27 and 390 yards without turnovers and our Defense craps out 49 points.. Sad to watch.

Re: Blown Coverages - Who do we blame?!
Everytime the game starts and the guys line up for kickoff, this little voice in the back of my head says "we'll be prepared to be kicked square in the nuts for the next 3 hours"
I'm getting tired of this

Re: Blown Coverages - Who do we blame?!
I blame the players. They obviously can't get what the coaches are teaching. If you get beat fine, that's physical. But to have mental breakdowns like that is just inexcusable at the NFL level. Amerson should be benched. He was clearly not ready to play today. And we all saw that Thomas isn't ready either. Do these guys study and watch film at all?

At this point, I don't even think benching proves a point. I bet these dudes are like, "Yeah, right. Bench me and then what? We just lose worse." I wouldn't even be worried about job security if I played for the Redskins because no matter what, whoever is behind me on the depth chart is probably worlds worse than I am. It's kinda like when D. Hall got injured and the secondary began collapsing. D. Hall is good... Above average, I'd say... But nowhere near elite, but because everyone else on the secondary absolutely blows, it makes losing him look like we lost Richard Sherman or Revis back there.

According to Allen the Redskins have "no gaping holes." I wonder who he would blame.
