Re: RG3 and Gruden?
Giving up on RG now would be incredibly stupid. He needs to be coached up and given better protection.
I'm almost thinking we should draft offensive tackle with first pick. How long since we had bookend tackles? Samuels and Jansen. I remember those days fondly. |

Re: RG3 and Gruden?
Our first score should have offered RGIII a positive learning feedback loop. He played within the offense rather than freelancing. He got the ball out quick. And we scored.
IMO his fundamentals fell off after that. But if he focuses on that drive, Griffin has a chance to gain comfort and confidence as a pocket QB.

Re: RG3 and Gruden?
Good for him. I expect more of the same. He'll look good on a few drives, then he'll have a couple wr's running wide open and not throw them the ball. Or throw a WR screen 5 feet over the wr's head. But I'd rather have him out there then an injured McCoy.

Re: RG3 and Gruden?
Not with RG3 starting. Unless our Offensive Line can hold defenders off for 5 seconds.

Re: RG3 and Gruden?
People don't seem to understand that bootlegs, roll-outs and moving the pocket only works if the run game is working. Our run game this year has struggled and that's mainly due to our TE's. We have not one TE on the roster that is solid all around.
People see Paulsen in the game and they stack the box because he can't out run anyone. If it's Jordan or Paul they just beat them to the edge and there is no seal for the zone read. Which is why I'm hoping we invest in more traditional style running like the Seahawks do and get some more powerful lineman. Right now we have a mix of both and it's not working out. We have no identity. If we move the pocket and have the lineman shift one way or another, it cuts the field in half and good defenses that are fast will just take advantage of that. Robert needs to learn to throw from the pocket to be a consistent, and successful offense. Period.

Re: RG3 and Gruden?
Fix the offensive line first then blame the quarterbacks. Good teams and good qbs typically have at least fairly strong offensive lines. We have Trent and a bunch of dumpster fires up front.

Re: RG3 and Gruden?
Agreed upon! The whole offense, including the play calling is underachieving because of this diarrhea offensive line!
