Off season begins.
A lot of holes have to be filled this spring /summer.
Positives for the year. Kirk cousins proved that he is a good QB and not a 1 hit wonder like many thought he would be. Is he a top 5 QB? NO but he can be a top 10 passer. OL for the most part was good all yr. Offense put up a ton of yards and points, pretty fun too watch most games. Josh Norman was worth the money. Kerrigan was solid like usual. Not great Mason Foster has a lot of potential. Baker is good. Reed, garcon, crowder, CT, djax, VD. All had great years. Gruden is a good coach, he's been here 3 years and has 2 winning seasons. I'll take that. NEGATIVES. Run Game was bad most of the yr. Run def was historically bad, we saw it week 1 against deangelo Williams and it never got better. Pass rush was avg at best, Preston Smith only plays well against bad lines. Secondary was injured and bad all yr outside of Norman. Coaching sucked many games, ESP Barry. Our d is so predictable.

Re: Off season begins.
I had definitely defended Barry for most of the season but he has WRs running wide open non-stop. We lack talent on the defense, it's true, but I believe we might have had one of the worst third down defenses of all time. That's scheme. Offensively, we'll be fine. I'd like an upgrade at LG, re-sign Cousins, re-sign Garcon and I think we'll be set. People are calling Docston a bust already, but let's see what he has before we say he's the next Malcolm Kelly,.

Re: Off season begins.
Very interested to see the starting 11 week 1 next year on defense. We need a bunch of new starters.
Also interested to see if SM franchises Cousins, signs him to something around 25 million, haggles him down to somewhere around 20 million, or let's him walk. I may be way off, but I think there's a good chance he actually let's him leave.

Re: Off season begins.
You don't let him walk for nothing, if he doesn't agree to 20 million or less you tag him and some teams will want him and get picks for him.1

Re: Off season begins.
I'm already reading draft information.
Looks like we will pick around the 17th spot.

Cravens was a bright spot too, he was just hurt a lot, let's hope that isn't something he always has issues with.

Re: Off season begins.
Yeah, I don't really agree with a lot of holes to fill...back to back winning seasons and we have an identifiable core of talent. We will probably see Barry go..we may see fewell leave if couglin takes a HC job.
I think McC kinda outsmarted himself last offseason. He wanted to stop the run and run the ball better...that was his focus last offseason. That was mostly an utter failure. He needs to do a much better job to see improvements in those areas. To me, the main story will be getting extensions ready for Chris baker and cousins first. Then garçon Chris Thompson and possibly Trent Murphy. And I think the next story will be new d coordinator. I'm interested to see a new vision on the defensive side of the ball. I think we have to rebuild the front seven...

Re: Off season begins.
Reportedly they have $63 million in cap room before any cuts. D Hall, Kory L, Paul, etc. would add 10+ million. There are only a few free agents I want back, KC, Pierre, and Baker at the right price. So, they should have plenty of money for free agents.
They must add about 5 good free agents. S, CB, DL and ? And they need a good draft.... with 9 picks they need more than 3 contributors. Also, Brian Mitchell made a good point. Are they a 3-4 or a 4-3 team ?.... Kerrigan and P Smith are both tweeners...not 4-3 DEs or 3-4 OLBs. They get most of their stats against the weak teams and do not provide a consistent pass rush |

Re: Off season begins.
If we're looking at defense in FA, I want Kawann Short. That's the one big splash I'd do.

Re: Off season begins.
Calais Campbell is a FA this year.
Hes 30 years old but I would plug him in over any of our current guys.

Re: Off season begins.
I'm not a good cap guy, but I would imagine he would be one of the top three defensive guys available.
