When a team can outplay another team except at crucial moments of the games it says a whole lot about a coaching staff. This team consistently gets beat at the end of halves. It consistently gets beat in crucial moments. That is on both sides of the ball. Because he executed it like a timing play. He didn't look over there, just threw the ball expecting a receiver to be near. Those plays exist.

Bad call by Kirk and the coaching staff imo, but the game never should've come to that. That's on the d.

If it was a run play why would he expect crowder to be wandering around over there blocking no one? If the guy has no idea what you're doing maybe look before you chuck it. Stupid freaking decision. Call a damn audible or run the original play.

Kirk is a very good QB. Jay is a very good HC. Great QBs don't make killer mental errors. Great coaches know when to avoid something that their teams do poorly. Neither are great so 9-7 is the perennial ceiling

They didn't call an audible because it was too loud. Original play was bad because they had stacked the line for a run. It was a miscommunication, Kirk saw the coaches mouthing to throw it, but it was too loud for everybody to hear the audible. Kirk thought Crowder would be in the area, so he could get away with throwing it and no intentional grouding. Obviously it was a comms error.

Even with the miscommunication the refs totally blew it. That is not grounding by the rules. The refs blew that call horribly.

Our D and O sucks ass in the crucial moments of games. Both cave big time, Seattle was just luck they missed 3 fgs. We are what we are and that's a very avg and Injured team
