Ozzie retired

Edit: I'm wrong, he is still with Ravens for one more season but apparently under different capacity. I don't know who makes final decision for Ravens FO though.

I guess our plan is to stock pile compensatory picks

Around the NFL: Free agent signings 2018

So after seeing Ryan Grant get paid, anyone still mad about Richardson’s deal??

I am more concerned about Richardson's injury history. Three major knee injuries with Seattle.
I do not want to see Richardson and Jordan Reed in street clothes during games filling out their deposit slips for their huge pay checks.
Reed is as injury-prone as he is talented. He has yet to play 16 games in his first 5 NFL seasons and his $10million dollar cap hit this year is a big concern.
Richardson has played only one full 16 game season in his 4 year career that has two major ACL tears and one MCL tear.
Add Doctson to that equation and injury history to our receiving is a concern.

All of this is 100% true and it is a big concern but we needed that Speed to open up the field, even if he is just used for some deep passes here and there we will benefit from it. Reed? It's time to just realize we need to draft a TE

There is healthy WR speed in this draft and much less expensive. A lot less risk to cost. I hope Richardson is on the field.
Reed on the other hand, I don't think our FO has realized it yet. Instead they signed him to a 5 year, $46,750,000 contract, including a $9,000,000 signing bonus, $22,000,000 guaranteed, a cap hit of $10,143,750 in 2018.
At his cap hit , if he has another repeat of 2017 in 2018 it will definitely be time to get move on from Reed.

There are too many team needs to fill them all via the draft. Some needs must be filled in FA. Apparently, this is one of them.

That's a hell of a deal for Grant. I wouldn't have paid him that kind of money, but more power to him.

Ozzie must have lost his mind. I guess the pressure finally got to him. The Grant deal is the most shocking deal I can recall in a long while.

That is, except for the fully guaranteed $84M deal for Cousins. The fact that this huge deal is fully guaranteed is a back-breaker for NFL owners. They must hate the Vikings ownership for opening up Pandora's box.

When was the last time a franchise quarterback (you can spare me the "he's not worth it" argument because idc) hit the open market in his prime? Brees 05 prob the last time.

It will be interesting to see how this affects qb negotiations in the future. My guess is teams probably gonna hate it because fully guaranteed deals could screw a team if the qb gets injured.

Part of Kirk’s deal could be injury guaranteed, that’s all teams would have to do is make part of it based on injury

Re: Around the NFL: Free agent signings 2018

If $84m is a back breaker for a team over 3 years they’re seriously doing something wrong

Re: Around the NFL: Free agent signings 2018

I agree - in all honesty is $28million a year. which is less than the franchise tag we paid him last year. and with the rise of the cap each year - I think they will be just fine. You have to plan these contract looking 3 years down the road. Minnesota is not a team that generally screws up the cap.
