Falcons were very creative on block schemes, love the constant double team for their weak Guards

Cooley has said all year that Doctson doesn’t get separation.

He lacks the quickness and footwork. It's just time to accept what he is

That's kinda why I think a move to the slot might be worth a look as a last attempt...

Maybe separation from the team would be better.

Re: Postgame Falcons

Alex Smith on passes 20+ yards down field this season. (Deep ball)

9 of 30 (2 drops) 298 yards 2 tds 1 int. 76.8 rating (32)

Before we all hate on him, he has actually attempted more passes down field so far than Brees, Rivers , Wentz and Dalton)

This is the aspect that we miss the most, the deep ball. Kirk is always a top 10 passer going deep. He is again this season.

19 of 37

10 tds 0 ints

The offense scored 14 against a terrible defense. That is all I care about.

Re: Postgame Falcons

It wasn't really a cheap shot, they were in a tussle after the play and he was thrown to the ground , happened far away from the play so I'm thinking the refs just didn't see it.

So why would Finlay report it as a cheap shot when he was at the game?

Just before the camera closes in on PR, you can see Scherff gets thrown to the ground (left bottom corner of your screen).

The issue I have is this: if nothing more happened, cheap shot is an over statement, and if something more happened, why didn't the whole OL get into it with the culprit instead of whining at the officials ?

This is what Finlay wrote at the time on Twitter:

Scherff got cheap shotted too

Then I don't like the lack of reaction by the team. You never want to praise brawls in sport, but man if he got hit while on the ground is whining at the official really all you gonna do for your teammate?

Re: Postgame Falcons

Cooley's grades from his Offensive Film Breakdown of the week.

I want to highlight Nsekhe's, Geron Christian's and Tony Bergstrom's grades.
Granted they didn't play a great front 4, but I did think they played better than I/we expected: when we had 3 starting Olinemen out of the game I thought Alex Smith was going to get blasted on every pass play, but he still had quite a lot of time to throw the ball. Quite a lot of missed assignments in the run game though.

Point is... despite the injuries I'm trying not to throw the towel on a 5-3 season... Cooley even said he doesn't think it's going to be that dynamic of a difference from what this offense has been this year.

Alex Smith B

Adrian Peterson B

Geron Christian C+ (Cooley says if you take away 2 or 3 really bad plays, he played pretty well. I did think he looked way more confident than during pre season)

Ty Nsekhe A-

Tony Bergstrom C- (as a fill in guy he did OK)

Chase Roullier B+

Brandon Scherff C

Morgan Moses C- (obviously playing hurt)

Mo Harris B+

Josh Doctson C+

Paul Richardson C

Jordan Reed B

Vernon Davis B
