Re: Chase Young or Three First Round Picks?
When I started this thread I thought there was a very good chance of a trade down. But after close examination, the only team with enough trade picks to justify NOT taking Chase Young is Miami. The only Miami picks worthy of Young were their #5 pick, another first rounder (#18) and probably a second rounder. Many have advocated that sort of trade.
The problem is, Miami isn’t going to make the offer. Most likely, they just have to sit at #5, do nothing, and Tua will fall in their laps. Besides Cincy, none of the next three drafting teams want a QB. The Coronavirus crisis will make every team more cautious in the draft. The Redskins played the “we want to draft Tua to replace Haskins” card fairly well, but ultimately only conspiracy buffs, sports writers needing a bogus story to gain readership, or NFL fans who only saw Haskins first game, believed this idea. Miami doesn’t accept this propaganda from Rivera and that’s all that matters. Finally, big trade offers are very rare and often end up being huge busts for the team offering so many draft picks. Case in point is the RG3 deal. So, for many reasons, the big draft trade idea, with Miami is just a pipe dream. I am surprised that a well-respected and smart writer like Bosewell (Washington Post) would urge such a trade. We will draft Chase Young and I’m extremely excited to see how he energizes the defense and gives us the first elite pass rush in over 25 years. I and many in the NFL just want to see how good Chase actually is and whether he’s even 50% of the hype. Fortunately, he will have an outstanding Defensive Coordinator and HC to learn from AND they will properly use his talents. Also, the rest of the Redskin’s DL is just going to explode this season, as the spotlight shines on Chase. Unfortunately, it does take EVERY rookie time to master their position - even if he is the phenom everyone says he is. So Young will do well, we’ll see occasional flashes of greatness, but I doubt he’s going to blaze with full afterburners right from the first play. 10-12 sacks. Rejoice Redskins fans! We may be drafting an outstanding player or maybe even a superstar with Chase. A hometown hero returning to his team. Just don’t expect miracles right away. Simply his presence and media attention will help Sweat, Allen, Payne and Ionnadis to improve and excel. I predict that the defense will go from the basement level to the top 10. We may be getting as big a superstar as Sean Taylor, but more importantly the defensive squad will be lifted by his play and will be the best part of this team at least next year and beyond. HAIL! Re: Chase Young or Three First Round Picks?
I'm not one of the fans that are all over Chase like many skins fans are.. Some are saying ridiculous comments like "future hof" or "17 sacks a season" that's just stupid

Re: Chase Young or Three First Round Picks?
Well anyone averaging 17 sacks a season is insane, but with him matching with Sweat I think they can combine for 25 when both are healthy and at their ceiling. I just think he is gonna help take our defense to another level. We just dont have that star and people are looking forward to that potential.

EVERY draft pick is a gamble. Can an outstanding college talent transition to the pro level? Can a young man with insane amounts of money (for that age) and fame, avoid the temptations that they bring? Can this player avoid injury at the NFL’s increased speed and power? I see exciting things for Chase based on a few factors: 1. Mentorship - Kerrigan will be able to mentor Young about taking care of his body, maturity and learning the tricks of the trade as a elite Edge player. 2. Coaches - The Redskins FINALLY have an excellent HC, who has built teams before and taken them to the top. They also have an outstanding Defensive Coordinator in Del Rio. Prior excellent talent like Sweat, Kerrigan, Allen, Payne and Ionnadis was freaking WASTED due to poor coaching by Manusky and the awful DC before him. People were criticizing Sweat for not enough sacks when he was dropping back in pass coverage 50% of plays!! Going from terrible to outstanding coaching is going to TRANSFORM this defensive squad. 3. New DEFENSIVE talent - besides Young, we will add at least Fuller and Davis to the mix. Outstanding coaching and teaching at Defense plus new talent is going to transform this squad. Will Chase Young be a Star? A superstar? A draft bust? We do not know until he plays here. But he has the building blocks to excel if he can stay heathy, stay away from the party life, and learn from his mentors and coaches. I’m excited to see him grow here on a (future) very good defense!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Chase Young or Three First Round Picks?
In the games where he had zero sacks he was being double and even triple teamed. No opponent has shut him down with one on one blocking. So even is he does not produce a sack, he will be opening up lanes for other members of the D line.
