Any time I have had to venture past the mom and pop stores into larger cities for business supplies it seems to me things are just as crowded as ever as a whole. Fredricksburgh Va, is just as crowded as ever and then some. Traffic on HWY 95 does seem lighter.

At times. Rt 1 up around Quantico always seems a bit busy.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)

The problem with expanded testing - and I am not specifically saying don't do it - is it gives the media "scare" numbers. I would rather the focus be on ICU and total bed usage - that is the key statistic, not how many people have a mild or unrealized case of it.
the site worldometer has a projections page for each US State, Maryland's is linked here: https://covid19.healthdata.org/unite...erica/maryland , if their numbers are right, currently Md is experiencing a 3 to 1 shortage of ICU beds, with the projection being that by Jun 1st we would be back within operating capacity, they also show that Md is currently has an overall surplus of 1 1/2 times total bed capacity.

I am not saying any of this to make bold recommendations. My only point is that the number of positive tests is more likely to drive fear than rational behavior.

I don't see masks being mandatory once this is over, people can barely handle it now with a good reason to wear one

Honestly masks aren’t even ultra necessary if you social distance and dont put your hands in your mouth. I wear one if i have to go grocery shopping but if everyone followed the damn arrows in the aisles I probably would not. You just cant pick your nose or your teeth! Well maybe after you wash your hands....

Re: Coronavirus (non political)

Maybe restaurants could be like how it used to be for smoking: Would you like to be seated in masked or unmasked?

I can't even imagine feeling comfortable going into a restaurant or bar to eat for a very long time

Yeah, its definitely going to be real weird at 1st. Which is lame because going out to eat, grab some beers, and catch a game is at the top of the lists of things I enjoy doing.

The fall out from this is going to get a lot worse as people's habits change. A lot of businesses that weathered the initial storm won't survive the collateral damage.

About the only thing I changed spending wise is staying out of chain grocery stores, because the way people act, the hoarding, people that freak out when someone gets in their space, etc, etc. The mom & pop stores around me are business as usual, not that crowded and adding items as demand dictates.

Most are stocked up better than they were pre-pandemic.
I have to drive further and make more stops and of course prices are higher. I may keep that behavior for a long time.

Yeah, it really is hard to imagine people going back inside to eat in a restaurant for a very long time. That was on my list of things that i imagined would be permanently changed / lost, along with movie theaters, amusement parks, etc., due to people's fear.

I do believe that this virus isn't the "Big One", but it will be the one that changes the way we live our life forever. We will get used to the "new normal" and people as always will exist and find a way, but i think a lot of the "old way" will be gone forever.

I'm single now. Gonna be a lone wolf for a long time.

Meet someone online and have to test them before they come inside? 🤣😂

Even if she tests clean she could be carrying germs on her exterior body or clothes. Just have her strip naked in your garage, put her clothes in the wash machine and then hit the shower. You will have to watch to make sure she cleans herself properly. Of course most would think that is going too far on a first date, but we all must be safe, that has to be the new normal.
