Honestly that entire list outside of WFT and wolves is pretty bad. I sure hope there are better names being considered at this point.

I think the final name has to be in that list. As much as they are driving the videos, and Wright said (paraphrasing) that these videos are crafted after the process has passed that point in the process.

I seriously doubt there is any hidden name out there otherwise this whole building the brand showcase falls flat.

I don't think we can even say that's the list they're going from though. There were several other lists that fans were voting on back when they did that.

I think it's fair to rationalize that the 3 names that they are choosing from were at least spotlighted in the Making the Brand Videos. Those 8 are the ones from this most current one. I just don't think this front office, and Jason Wright particularly is trying to be super secretive about it. I think they are trying to walk the fanbase to the one that is the eventual new name.

For me it's pretty easy to see Wolves/RedWolves (W/RW) as being where these videos point to. Whether it's the subtle imagery points in the flip sheets, the multiple fan groups howling, or even the words they use to describe the final choice. They all easily can be pointed to W/RW. I believe in fan polling RedWolves was the leading name, and they are doing nothing with these videos to minimize or reduce it's popularity. Instead, through subtle and not so subtle imagery they are reinforcing the W/RW imagery and sounds. Short of having wolves running in the background, I doubt they could do much more to highlight that name as an option.

They are not sticking with WFT.

It isn't happening for a thousand reasons, but the simplest few are that it doesn't reflect any of the traits that they keep harping on. It doesn't provide for expanding the base beyond DC. It doesn't move from the realm of generic.
It was a placeholder and they didn't spend massive marketing capital and brand awareness efforts to in the end say "It's WFT".

I could go on about it but I only slept at the holiday Inn express one night.

I would guess that their next Making the Brand video will be in the November/December time frame and it will be all about moving how they chose WFT as a placeholder and how it is time to move into the future with a new identity beyond WFT.

I think Brigade is ok, but just ok. Red Wolves or Wolves is great. Everything else listed there sucks to me.

Razorbacks or Warthogs would be how I'd go if we want to go down the hog themed route. RedHogs is stupid, that's trying to make Fetch happen with the 'Red' in the name. It's not going to happen.

Is a redhog even a real thing? When I google it all that comes up are BBQ joints or butcher shops.

Apparently it is, basically like the Razorback.. I'd prefer just Wolves over 90% of these names.

Defenders is kinda cool

WFT is solid

Red wolves is Ok

I would prefer Wolves or Wolfpack , the use of "Red" though feels like too much of an effort to link to the past.
Surprised there haven't been more good animal related names, but I guess they are too widely used in HS and CFB.

I Just don't see a Red Wolf as a DC Based tradition... I mean I guess that doesn't matter much but still.. I mean isn't that basically a Coyote? I agree the word RED doesn't have to be in the name.

Wolves is the leader of the pack by far. Red Wolves and Commanders would be next and finally WFT.

Anything else would be an out of the blue name, and better knock it out of the park.

After that video sparked so much speculation, it will be interesting to see how much energy they spend on it once the season begins. Hopefully with the team in the playoff hunt, the need to push this information out will be minimal.

Final pitch for Wolves (for the moment) imagine the imagery around Wolves in the playoff Hunt.

Just so easy to do great (non-offensive) marketing/imagery with Wolves.
