Re: What happens with Kyle Smith?

What's really frustrating is how many really talented people who have been in the building and have gone on to find success with legitimate ownership.

I mean really. Where were we going with Gruden when LA hired Mcvay. The folks who have been on the inside, who have been privy to the best information to inform such a decision have always gotten it wrong.

There are respected reporters who have compared Smith's talent and approach to that of a prodigy, similar to Mcvay.

It would be a shame if he becomes the next name on the list.

Dude, get some perspective.

Beathard is historically one on the 5 best pure GMs in the 100 year history of professional football.

Kyle is the son of a above average GM.

Yes Kyle has drafted well over about 3 years, but in no way should he be compared to Beathard. The guy has a single year or shared experience dealing with vets. I believes he deserves a GM contract too, but I think you've made an outrageous comparison, thats all.

I know what Bobby did, 4 teams, 7 SB appearances and 4 SB wins, there is a reason he’s in the HOF. My point is, in 3 years of drafting Kyle has accumulated a nice haul, if you looked at the list, it’s no coincidence. The pattern also shows his draft are getting better from the previous ones and he’s doing it in 7 rounds, not 12. We haven’t had a talent acquirer like this since BB, he’s 35 and just getting started. This guy could keep the team in contention for many years. If we make the playoffs, he’s the first person I would give credit too for building that Dline, bring McLaurin Gibson in the O.

Agree. Love his recent drafts. Id love him as a GM too. Hope he can handle the free agency side. Losing a HOF potential LT hurt us significantly. If we had him, we'd definitely be in the playoffs. Imagine screens with gibson in space with trent williams escorting him. What a major screwup by Bruce. This should NEVER be allowed to happen again

Trent Williams leaving was on Bruce Allen and medical staff, I also wouldn’t be surprised if Kyle Shanarat called TW knowing the situation and recruiting him to SF in a stealth manner.

That wouldn’t have been hard. They’d been to the super bowl last year, lost their longstanding LT to retirement, and TW had a relationship with their coaches. Most logical move.

Re: What happens with Kyle Smith?

Per Ian Rapoport, the team is planning on finding someone to fill in the GM position this offseason. I'm not sure what this means for Kyle Smith, I just hope we will keep him somehow for years to come.

Dave Gettleman might be out after Sunday.

Idk why but between him and Marty Hurney I get the feeling one will end up working with Ron here.

I'd rather have Hurney though, Gettleman is trash. So is Mayhew.

At 69 and having to deal with Cancer Gettlemen has done what he needed to do for the Giants.

1) Brought in the next Franchise QB replacing a 16 year two time SB MVP

2) Changed the culture of the entire team by discarding some locker room problems.(Odell)

3) Found a Coach who has his players believing in him.

DG might retire or even take a VP spot . I wouldn't be surprised.

Who is this franchise QB and why has he not been playing?

Mayhew and Gettleman are complete trash...these would be detrimental hires.

Re: What happens with Kyle Smith?

Kyle Smith has brought in Good and Very Good starters out of the very BOTTOM of the draft, but also out of UDFA. Curl is just the Latest ROOKIE starters and a 7th round pick.

Either Rivera isn’t sold on Kyle’s GM ability OR Rivera wants to bring in a GM who will BE HIS GUY! I can see Rivera’s paranoia. Snyder secretly ran many of the top personnel selections through GM’s who quietly did what he wanted. Once the team starts winning again I’m sure Rivera is worried Snyder will try to get back in the personnel decision-making loop.

Kyle has made some excellent pickups these last couple years from the dredges of the draft/UDFA. It hasn’t gone unnoticed, if he’s isn’t kept as the GM here, he will be offered a job at some other team looking for a magician like him who sometimes makes gold from coal.

Re: What happens with Kyle Smith?

Just a thought. Smith isn't being lined up for any vacant GM interview - https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-coachin...1-hiring-cycle

Is that indicative of nobody outside DC thinking him ready for the role, nobody having approached him yet or RR having made it clear via back channels that he's going nowhere and likely to get the WFT job?

Personally I suspect its one of the latter two.

It might even be an indication the NFL is going to push Snyder out so nobody is touching WFT staff until the ownership situation is resolved. Not sure that logic stands up to much scrutiny though.
