Definitely not a surprise to me. Many of us were high on him when he was drafted, but he has mainly been a huge disappointment ever since. Rivera gave him an opportunity last year and he didn't seize it.

Offense - 26
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke, Kyle Allen
RB Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic, Jaret Patterson, Peyton Barber
WR Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, Antonio Gandy-Golden, Curtis Samuel, Cam Sims, Adam Humphries, DeAndre Carter
TE Logan Thomas, John Bates, Sammis Reyes
OL Charles Leno Jr., Cornelius Lucas, Wes Schweitzer, Ereck Flowers, Chase Roullier, Brandon Scherff, Sam Cosmi, Saahdiq Charles, Tyler Larsen

Defense - 24
DE Chase Young, Montez Sweat, James Smith-Williams, Shaka Toney
DT Jonathan Allen, Matt Ioannidis, Daron Payne, Tim Settle
LB Jamin Davis, Cole Holcomb, Khaleke Hudson, Jon Bostic, David Mayo
DB Kendall Fuller, Jimmy Moreland, Landon Collins, Kamren Curl, Bobby McCain, William Jackson III, Benjamin St-Juste, Torry McTyer, Deshazor Everett, Jeremy Reaves, Troy Apke

ST - 3
Dustin Hopkins, Tress Way, Camaron Cheeseman
Returning kicks/punts - DeAndre Carter, Jaret Patterson

A couple notes:
OL - We are finally rid of the Wes Martin experiment. Larsen wins the backup Center job. I feel like the OL is full of starting caliber players.

WR - I wanted to keep Milne, but there's just no room. Carter wins the last WR spot due to his return abilities.

TE - I chose Sammis over Ricky based solely on potential. It's a toss-up to me.

DB - I struggled with the decision between Apke and Johnson. It is obvious to me that the coaches feel more comfortable with Apke than Johnson in the secondary. Johnson is a solid ST player, but it appears (at least in the eyes of the coaches) that Apke offers more overall. Hopefully he doesn't actually see the field much as a Corner - but you could probably say that about both of them.
With Moreland, Reaves, AGG and Barber, that's 4 guys we thought would make the team that aren't... who's making it in their place ? I had rookie Darrick Forrest in there and looks like he will... other ideas ?

I don't know man.

At this point it definitely looks good for Milne and Forrest.

Maybe they keep 4 TEs?, an extra O-lineman (Ismael), D-line (Bada)...? Probably one of these three...

Milne, Forrest definitely likely.
4 TEs? I'm not even sure I know the name of 4 TEs on this team. Well technically I do but have no idea how good Ricky Seal Jones is.

Keeping Ismael would indeed make sense, may still turn into a quality back up center.
I don't know about Bada, we keep saying his name because he flashed in the third pre-season game, but one thing we're learning tonight is pre-season doesn't teach us a lot. Coaches make decision based on what they see in camp more than those games, unless there's a huge surprise of a guy rising/collapsing to game-like pressure. So don't know if his pre-season sack is enough to earn him a spot, while we have an extra "international" practice squad spot waiting for him...

Per source: TE Sammis Reyes and CB Troy Apke will be on Washington's 53-man roster.

Big question will be are any of the surprise cuts among the 8 unvaccinated players.

Predicting the final 53

I really thought Moreland, AGG, and Reaves would be safe. I know Apke is fast but he is terrible and coverage and offers no flexibility to the team.

Looks like Dax makes the team if AGG is gone.

Re: Predicting the final 53

Stroman, Johnson, Reaves, and Moreland - that’s a lot of guys from our secondary last year who were axed.

At least Moreland and Reaves will be signed elsewhere I’ll bet.

Re: Predicting the final 53

Need for a vet outside corner just became a huge need.

We should have some decent options.

^^ live list of cuts per team .. doesnt have Moreland updated so it might be going by official team statements and not beat reporters

Re: Predicting the final 53

Interesting to see what happens to Daryl Roberts.

Barber will be back on the 53 soon, he is an easy waive and pickup that talking heads had been thinking this would happen. It is clear they still need him for the short yardage game

Surprised that they don't stick some of these guys on IR for the year.

IR still counts against Salary Cap numbers.

True of course, I hadn't thought about that. But with the likes of Moreland and AGG likely going to get picked up on waivers it would hardly break the bank to keep them around a year on IR to see if they can get better. Most of the others are going to be available to sign to the PS. I suppose that they just don't think they can play at a high enough level. I would have liked to at least have gotten a couple of late round picks in return. Hate wasting mid round picks. For every Cole Holcomb and Matt Ionnidis there has to be an AGG or Wes Martin I suppose

Re: Predicting the final 53

Wonder if we will try to sign AGG to practice squad? I thought he finally showed some progress in the last 2 preseason games, but perhaps it wasn't enough for the coaches.
