Re: Welcome Jahan Dotson, WR PSU - 1st Round Pick
The pick sucks because he will have bums throwing to him.
Every pick sucks till they get a QB. I don't care if you draft a Terry McLaurin type player every year, it won't matter till they get a franchise QB. |

Re: Welcome Jahan Dotson, WR PSU - 1st Round Pick
The washington FO is pretty open about draft info/strategy POST draft, so we'll probably get a better idea of who was where on their list etc. That was a really good haul for moving down 5 spots, but you don't really know until you see who gets picked and how well they play (AND just because guy X plays well for the saints doesn't mean he would have done as well here, situation and personality fit can make a huge difference... as well as who's playing QB).
There were a couple other guys I maybe would have liked more at 11, but I think factoring in the trade, they potentially turned 1 starter into 2.5, and the difference between his production and olave (if he were here) may not be very far apart (again, very speculative/hard to tell before anyone has played a down). |

Re: Welcome Jahan Dotson, WR PSU - 1st Round Pick
Especially since Ron played on the world famous 46 defense of the 85 Bears.
The 46 defense was named after Safety Doug Plank and was centered around the strength of those safeties to cover while the front Seven blitzed on almost every play. Last edited by Defensewins; 04-30-2022 at 12:11 PM. |

@NickiJhabvala
The Washington Commanders have signed first-round pick Jahan Dotson, per source. The 4-year deal is worth roughly $15.05M. |

Re: Welcome Jahan Dotson, WR PSU - 1st Round Pick
When you see those numbers, you can really start to understand why teams are trading their veteran wide receivers. They are getting paid way more in 1 year than what Dotson will make in 4 years.

Re: Welcome Jahan Dotson, WR PSU - 1st Round Pick
The rookie wage scale was one of the best things the league has ever done, rookie deals were getting way out of control before they put that in place

Absolutely! Gone are the days where a guy like Sam Bradford gets $78 mil ($50 mil guaranteed) before ever playing a down in the league.

Re: Welcome Jahan Dotson, WR PSU - 1st Round Pick
Speaking of him, would you say he collected the most money for being mediocre at best of any NFL player in history? That's a bold claim, but I feel like it might be true...

"Bradford eclipsed the $100 million mark early in his career due in large part to luck and timing. He was the first pick in the 2010 draft, the last draft class before the NFL put restrictions on how much rookies could be paid. He was cut by the Cardinals mid-way through the 2018 season. He was cut by the Cardinals after just three games in 2018 and has not played since." - Insider |

Re: Welcome Jahan Dotson, WR PSU - 1st Round Pick
He's definitely top five, but I feel like he made a ton of money for being a JAG. JaMarcus Russell gotta be #1 when it comes to guys who got paid the absolutely most without ever earning a dime of it though.

Man, lots of former Washington players on this list. Not good.
