I feel skeptical about it. But I think this opens the door for someone to potentially make an offer that Dan can't refuse. According to Forbes, the team is worth $5.6 billion; I'm pretty sure Dan will listen if someone offers him a billion or two above that price.

Just about anyone that buys the team will be given the benefit of the doubt by the local governments and should be able to do a stadium deal right away.

I'm trying not to get too excited because you could see this being a move to either a) raise cash for a stadium, b) generate cash flow to offset increased debt service costs that may have risen due to interest rate increases (he borrowed a lot to pay Fred Smith for his minority share, if that was variable rate debt he might be getting crushed right now), c) a desire to secure a partner to help him work with local politicians to get a deal over the finish line. Or a bit of all three.

At the same time, the way this was announced, and with the way they're saying we're exploring all options? It seems to say 'if we get a price we like, we'll sell.'

Snyder being here as even a minority owner could still be an impediment to getting a stadium deal and making the investigations go away. Anybody buying a significant stake would surely want Snyder out of the building because of that. If someone offers him north of $5bn ( which one guy was willing to pay for Denver) then it would be hard to refuse for most right minded people. Though Dan is Dan so ....

Maybe it is just me, but as soon as you accept the possibilty of buying/selling something then it almost becomes inevitable, the fact that a full sale appears to be on the table is a major step forward.

Yeah I mean why even float the possibility out there if there is truly no interest on the Snyders part in selling?

They wouldn't be making all of these announcements for a minority sale. When Snyder bought the rest of of the team, I don't remember it being such a big deal.
