Analytics, and I agree with it. With that little left on the clock, you go up 17 and it's game over. You risk a turnover and give the Lions momentum it could be a different outcome. Yes a kick can be blocked or missed (as it was), but the former is low % chance and the latter still has your opponent getting the ball in their half with too little time on the clock. The doubts about kicking it come about because the kicker isn't reliable, not because it's a bad call.
