Re: Around the League

Bill Bellichek won’t be a first year HOF inductee, he didn’t get enough votes.

Retarded by the NFL.

It is unbelievable. I was one that felt Spygate was a bigger deal than others but still feel he should be a 1st ballot. No denying that Spygate, Deflategate, and his absymal post Brady record are not helping him here. He should be 1st ballot. That 2007 team was arguably the best pro team I've seen.

Sports writers are the worst. Know it alls in an empty room. I always laugh when I hear things like “not a first ballot hall of famer” oh but next year you’ll vote for him? So stupid

Re: Around the League

8 rings and he’s not in

Just an embarrassing look for the NFL

The HOF voters should have to answer for this BS

Maybe none of them can get a GF 1/3 their age and it's nothing to do with his record?...

Which is absurd because with AI we all can have a girlfriend a 1/3 our age

If you are under 54 that's a very bad concept!

Re: Around the League

I am in the minority here, but I have no problem with Belichick having to wait a year (I am sure he will get in next year) as a bit of penance for Spygate and Deflategate. The dude was a serial cheater, and didn't learn his lesson after being called out for Spygate. If the voters decide to shame him by making him wait a year for the jacket, I am having trouble being sympathetic. Does he deserve to be in the HOF? Of course he does -- part of 8 Superbowls and won 6, and near the top of the list for all-time wins. But I also think it is fine for the league to remind everyone that there's a standard to uphold, and the dude fell short of it in ways that were detrimental to the league and to the teams he was competing against.

I wonder whether he would still have made it if he were more likeable. Sitting at press conferences, muttering monosyllabic responses to questions from under the hoodie probably didn't endear him to folks. Sometimes in life, it helps to not be an asshole. Bill didn't get that memo.

He was already punished by the league. I can’t stand the holier than thou attitude of Hall voters. Do your job and vote in a coach that has 8 rings and a stellar resume. It’s petty and ridiculous.

If I can add spygate was and is BS. As Jimmy Johnson said all teams did it . BB was a master at using the NFL rules to his advantage and he got an NFL HOF snub for it. I agree, whatever he did he was already punish for it and IMPO if you do it to him then Kraft and Brady should face the same, anyone think that's gonna happen?

See the article I posted. There's no position/proof either way on whether it was Spygate. Whilst I am sceptical that no voters held it against him, the voting system doesn't help. It might even be that some voters assumed everyone else would vote for him (or enough voters to swing it). Assuming the HoF investigation isn't a whitewash, best we wait on it. at the moment we're all reacting to the press storied. There's no proof of anything.
